Moles as in the black dots or thing in our body. Some are flat and some are bulgy, some are in private places. They just pop out from nowhere and remains in your body until the day you die. What really are they? Why they are in our body?

I have a mole between my eyebrows and it is very centered. It's funny how my friends and family call me an Indian because of it. When I was younger, you can barely notice it but now that im older, it's very easy to see. And I do look Indian.

No, what I mean is that little something they placed in between their forehead? Sometimes it's red or I don't know. The girls wear it on their weddings I think. I don't know what it's called though.

Hi Viney, You know something about melanin -- it is the pigment which gives us body color. This melanin is formed by melanin producing cells called melanocyte. These melanocyte are present in our skin layers (basal layer of epidermis). Mole or nevus is the overgrowth of these melanin-producing cells or melanocytes. They are benign and not harmful, but yes can be removed before we die

i am just wondering why you say that the pancreas is useless when it is an important gland that secretes important hormones that are useful to our bodies...

Moles are an abnormal concentration of melanoma cells in the lower layers of the skin. Nearly everyone has some moles and they are normally completely harmless but a few may become cancerous and it is best to be on the lookout for those and to catch and treat them early. There is a lot of good, basic information here: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/moles.htm Moles in small quantities and in certain places, particularly on the face, have often been considered an adornment and in some cultures have been called 'beauty spots'. It was once the habit of some women, especially in the 18th Century, to actually stick false 'moles' onto their skin as part of their makeup. See this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_mark

I don't think there is any reliable link between moles and any other form of cancer. Moles can often appear because of exposure to sun and one should certainly always be careful about skin cancer. If you have any of the symptoms described in the NetDoctor article, I would certainly advise you to see a doctor without delay. The earlier any cancer can be detected and dealt with, the more likely you are to be cured completely. A sudden increase in moles would probably be unusual and something you should certainly see a specialist about, if only to set your mind at rest. The worst disease of mankind is actually worry - worry about what MIGHT be true (though very often isn't) is really the worst kind!

i think your from the Philippines right? Well when i saw your response i went to your profile and found out that you really are from the same country as i am. That is in our tradition about the sayings on the location of our moles in our body. I dont really think it's true, i even knew a guy who has a mole in the back of his neck, and it should make him a ladies man, but he really isn't he's just too friendly, not romantic.
