I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes early this year...and immediately went on a strict diet(low carbs/low calorie)along with twice a day medication of metformin.I lost around 35 lbs. in 3 months...but I was constantly feeling sick and restless...also blood test result show that I have low white blood cells count.
After 4 months I decreased taking metformin to once a day without my doctor's knowledge because I figured that this medication is the culprit as to why I'm feeling sick all the time.
About 2 months ago I was discharged from work.Iv'e been unemployed since then, having no insurance I quit seeing my doctor also I stop taking medication,no exercise whatsoever,I also regained the 35 lbs I lost for I haven't been watching what I'm eating.I can't even remember the last time I checked my sugar level.
Other than boredom and occasional dizziness I feel alright,my concern is,what are the consequences of not monitoring/maintaining my daibetes?.

My husband is type 2 as well and his blood sugar when fasting is 104 and after eating it is 130. I am not sure if you can advise us, but what can my husband do to get his blood sugar lower in the morning (while fasting). Please help me if possible..

I feel it is important to get help for your diabetes. If you are unemployed can you get welfare? Diabetes can affect many things such as your eyes, your liver, your kidney and your feet just to name a few. My husband has a serious foot condition and if we had not treated it now it could be worse. He has Charot's foot and it has to due that he has no nerves in the foot. Without treatment he could lose his foot completely. Right now he has to wear a cast from three months to a year and he is also in a wheelchair. He is not allowed to drive nor can he walk. I would ask your doctor if he would be willing to take payments.

Well, without knowing your blood sugar levels then we can't really do anything about it. Yes, we may feel alright or even to the point of feeling no symptoms whatsoever (it actually depends on your body, there are people who are able to cope up with the symptoms that's why the body doesn't show it anymore). However, as far as I know, when we stop taking meds and monitoring blood sugar levels, it's actually bad for us because the disease might have started destroying the organs and before we know it, something worst is already happening.
I suggest you have yourself checked again. Don't take your health forgranted because once the sickness really comes in, it's going to come fast and would cost a lot of money.
Have a great Mylot experience ahead!

Diabetes is a chronic illness, which simply means once you are diagnosed with it, it cannot be cured. It is there to stay. I would advise you to go back to your doctor for a checkup. In most cases, it may be asymptomatic apart from the usual feeling of tiredness but the truth is the damage that is been caused is unrecoverable. High blood sugar affect circulation leading to eye damage, renal damage and the extremities and the worst of all to coma which is caused by extremely high level of glucose in your blood. It important for regulare checkups to monitor your sugar level.

I believe (I am diabetic Type 1) that in your case your prioritis are:
Get back to your doctor right away
blood sugar checked at least once a day
take your pills because it is the only thing will help your health in your case
Get back with a good diet and loose weight
Do not get stressed
walk slowly every day at least 1 Km this is to get your metabolism a bit faster
this is the minimum you MUST do to prevent very disappoining situations that can arrive when you don't even think of them.
take care of yourself and by a glucometer!
