Hi all!I'm planning to go on a vacation to the Philippines from late November to end of February(3 months)but with only $500 maximum amount per month for expenses,It's been 4 years since my last trip back home and it was such a short stay(emergency)I have no intention of going to my hometown or planning to let my relatives know that i'm coming home.I just want to explore the Philippines on my own.....I know it's weird.
So with $500 a month,is it going to be enough for everything that I need(lodging, food etc...)to enjoy and have a good time?I'm really looking forward to my adventure.
Will be waiting for all your insightful responses....THANKS!!!!

This sort of budget would give you around $100 a week so therefore you would have to travel in a very budget minded way. It would involve staying at the very cheapest places to stay like dorms if you can find those or the cheapest possible guest houses. You could do self catering or eat the cheapest places. You would need to travel by ferry and bus. I would love to visit the Philippines for some island hopping and snorkeling. Good lick planning your trip and remember get a travel guide book to see which are the cheapest places to stay and eat. Then you will also get an idea of ferry and bus costs.

I know that it is going to be a fantastic adventure for you. I really like the sound of the blog that you are planning to write. It is excellent that you enjoy traveling by ferry. Yes, it can be arranged with much research in books, a map of the Philippines and lots of written down planning.

I can't wait, really looking forward to start my journey....It's hard explain the feeling you get while on a ship in the middle of the ocean, especially from a frustrated seaman's perspective.....

Thanks a lot Maxi, just what I have in mind...I don't care much when it comes to a place I stay, being comfortable is the main thing,as with transportation,Ferries for long distance travel is what I prefer over planes n buses.I hate flying and bus is so cramped and uncomfortable.I think it can be done with proper planning n research......I'll even have my travel/adventure be documented n recorded or better yet have a blog and I'm going to have it titled $15 a day adventure in the Philippines......

$500 would only be about P20,000 - P22,000. If you don't have a place to stay for free, I don't think that would not be enough to enjoy. Where are you planning to stay anyway?

that's what I thought...having to worry about expenses is not my idea of a good and enjoyable trip.
My plan is to venture through parts of visayas, mindanao and most definitely palawan....I was thinking of spending a month in each of those areas...find a cheap place to stay and go from there.

Nope, that is not enough.. You must also consider airline ticket prices which are not cheap.

hi there, these days 20,000 for a vacationist is not enough..Even if you have a place that you don't need to pay just to stay..that amount is not enough... It wont take you to places. If you really want to have a nice time here maybe adding another $500 dollar will do... :-)
