Grapefruit is excellent for you. It has a lot of acid though which might affect you if eat or drink too much. Like anything else if you go to the extreme maybe. I read once this guy drank so much carrot juice(nothing but carrot juice) it affected him adversely but why would you want to go to such extremes?

There will always be a need for us to keep a balanced diet. This means we cannot survive on grapefruit alone day after day. Nor would it be advisable to have only grapefruit in a single day and nothing more. When this happens, it is only natural for one to get sick. Taking nothing but grapefruit means we miss on the most needed energy source: carbohydrates, then we miss the sources of protein, there's a required intake of vegetable oil yet...and so on and so forth.
This is the reason I still take my regular meals and I cut on my snacks if there are a good supply of fruits for the day. In fact, my regular meals get to be greatly reduced in volume.
Never forget the water intake. Although we may be eating fruits and taking fruit juices, there will always be a need to have some glasses of the most needed water yet. Maybe on a reduced level, too.

Grapefruit is full of vitamin C and very good for you. But if you are on medication it is good to know that grapefruit interacts with medicines. Many people drink grapefruit juice for breakfast. This is also the time that many people takes their medication.
Grapefruit juice blocks enzymes in the intestine and thus prevents the medicine to be absorbed into the body.

Only twice a week! I take them everyday if I can lay my hands on them. I like them better if made into fruit juice. The warm one. It dissolves belly fat better that way.
This is the first time that i have heard that taking too much grapefruit can make one sick. I have been eating grapefruit for as long as I can remember on no limit basis.
There are sister fruits which I eat to no limits at all...the pomelo and the oranges. I can eat baskets after baskets in a day taking little any other food at all.

My mother ate half a grapefruit daily for breakfast and the other half for lunch. She never got sick from eating grapefruit. It is high in vitamin C and other vitamins. People may even buy and drink grapefruit juice daily.
As for eating too much, anything overdone is not good for us. But eating grapefruit daily is not bad for you as long as you are not eating only grapefruit. You need other foods to keep balanced nutrition.

I don't think so : many people are doing nowadays a grapefruit diet at the beginning of autumn. It consists on eating only grapefruit -- generally 2 kg every day -- during a week or more, and on drinking only water and grapefruit juice. For what I know it is a very old diet, already done by the Greeks and Romans 2000 years ago.If I can believe Wikipedia it reached the USA at the end of the 30's : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grapefruit_diet
Have a good day and welcome to myLot !
