I had never made any campaign contributions until this year. A friend of mine helped me get work last year. He sent out letters asking for help, monitary help, for his campaign. I would really like to see him get this position. He is a hard worker. He has had the position in the past. He's for the average person and the poor. He tried to bring work into our area.
I was going to send him one amount of money, but then my husband lost the return envelop plus the letter. Then the thing with the food shelf came up, so I had to give him half and the food shelf the other half. I went to his home and asked him what to put on the check, "Committee to elect - his name. He said he was embarassed to ask for money, but he went through thousands out of his pocket. He still needs more money for stamps, photocopies, etc. There are two lists, one where he can not use the money for like gas for his car when he goes door to door and one where he can use the money. He has to consult a lawyer ever year to keep up with it. So he needs another thousand for his media ads, tv, newspaper and radio. He's hoping that at least half respond with a good amount of money between now and the end of the month.
I can't vote for him because he's not in my voting district. So this is the least I can do. If I knoew when I was substitute teaching and when I wasn't, I could stuff enveloopes, stamp them, or something to help. So have you ever contributed money for a campaign? If you did, why did you? How did you figure how much to give? Would you contribute to a campaign fund?

I have not ever given money towards a campaign but I have give my time. Several years ago, a lady was running for prosecuting attorney in our town and she was a good friend of ours. I thought she would do a good job and so my husband and I jumped aboard her campaign. We made phone calls, stuffed envelopes, answered the phone in her campaign office and threw candy from her float in the Christmas parade.
One of the things that we had fun doing was when we stood with her in her booth at the county fair. We were able to introduce her to our friends and let them know that we thought she would do a great job. We also put one of her campaign signs in our yard.

Did she win?
I volunteered at the fair for making popcorn so the party he belongs to could sell different things and make money. If I'm feeling better next time and I don't have any money, then maybe I can make phone calls, stuff envelopes and ansswer the phone. We don't have Christmas parades here, (subzero or lots of snow then), but we do have the 4th of July and labor day ones.
Thank you for answering and rescuing thing for zero ressponses.
