Why Facebook is so popular ?

I am also thinking about the same thing.In india orkut was very popular until a couple of years ago but suddenly people are switching to facebook.I too dont have an idea why it is very famous because orkut is almost equal to or even better than facebook from my personal experience.The good thing is that since it is immensely popular it will be easy to find your lost friend if any.

At one time, I didn't get the Facebook popularity. Now in fact do. People like things that are simple. Simple, basic, things that do not really make them thing. Four out of five people are not going to want to think about anything any more than they have to and they want things to be made more convenient. Facebook allows them a way to keep in touch with their friends, without leaving the comfort of their own computers. And that is rather good for them don't get me wrong. Also, the fact is that everyone who is anyone seems to have a Facebook account. So the popularity is maintained by more people are jumping on. Facebook is something that when you think about it, isn't anything special but it is the illusion that it is something huge and special that makes it special. It really is basic and really that it is the appeal. You can talk to friends, play games, goof around, all that fun stuff.

when first time appear, facebook looks like simple and offer many feature that can't be provide by the latest social networking like friendster.

well, Facebook is getting popularity because even newbie of computer and internet learn facebook first than other application..It's also really good to search your friends since almost every one who live with electricity and internet connection should have facebook account already nowadays..Even some of them having multiple accounts and many also scammers around.. the problem is facebook no longer honor member privacy recently..

I am not sure, I find it boring over there. But I guess it has to do with all the free games too.

Facebook is a "comfrortable" site to keep the contact with a lot of people and give the possibility to share infos, comments, photos, etc... And everyone joined and if you want to contact someone you can find him there.

Simple - it is because most people like their experience on Facebook. And also, most of their friends already used Facebook, so it may attract another people to join (that's one reason about how one sites growing big, it is because its members promote that site to their friends).

I don`t understand that either , i made an account on Facebook and never used it in the first year,then i went there after i got tired on Tagged.com,but i never liked Facebook.It may be great for kids with all the games they have there but when you receive 100 invitations to play the same crapville game you won`t feel to great.Also i don`t understand why i have to "share" everything It may be popular because people and companies are allowed to spam there so they want you to stay there.

Well , I think it deserves it, because Its a place where You can find people that You havent see for long time, We just type their names and usually You will find them, You can share albums of pictures, send messages ,share information, even chat, and I dont have enough time to search more , I know it has so much more than that, but, what I like most is that I have found many old friend and know what they did with their lives.
