Have You Ever Been To A Dermatoogist?

I finally went to the dermatologist on October 1st. My acne has been such a problem since I was in 8th grade and that's been oh, I don't know, more than 5 years or so. It's gotten worse instead of getting better. And pus, I had this lump on my face that was at one point a pimple, I believe, and apparently turned into a cyst! So, I was prescribed four things. One is a pill I take at night. Another is a gel I put on at night. Then I have a cream I put on in the morning. And I was my face with this foam cleanser once a day. Yikes! Did I mention I need to wear sunscreen on my face everywhere I go too? As long as it works, I really don't care how much medicine I need to use, but I do wish that a simply washing with soap and water would do the trick. Have you ever been to the dermatologist? For what?

I did go to the dermatologist once, but it wasn't because I had a problem with acne. On the corner of my forehead, way up high on the left side of my head by my hair line was something. It wasn't a zit, although it was the size of a medium zit. It was darker in color though. My mom scheduled me an appointment and come to find out it was tissue. Tissue growing outside of my head. Really weird, I know. How human tissue comes out of one's head to grow on the outside is beyond me. So they just froze it off. I never had any trouble again.

Good, I am glad it was not a skin cancer, as that is a likely place for them to begin.

Really? I had no idea. Well, if there is one thing I do not get a lot, is exposure to the sun. I was never one to go tan, and frankly I was an indoors girl who read most of the time. My sister on the other hand... I truly think she'll have skin cancer one day. She used to lay out and tan, but not put sun screen on because "getting burned gives me the best tan".

No, I've never been to the Dermatoogist. Haha, I see what you mean about the broken l key, kinda funny really. Hopefully that works itself out. Anyways, I've never been to the Dermatologist, but I have a friend who went for acne reasons, and the medication didn't do anything at all. But this specific friend has a few abnormalities. For one, their cells divide abnormally fast, so a broken arm that would take a month for most to heal healed in less than two weeks. In addition, they have over sensitive skin, and an abnormal amount of oil production. So stronger medications hurt too much, while weaker medications do nothing due to the overly oily skin. More or less my friend's only chance would be a product designed around her needs, which costs more than her $10 budget allows apparently.

Aw. That's sad. But I guess the whole healing thing is kind of a nice plus, right? The acne medicine seems to be helping somewhat. I'm going to give it a few months to see what happens, you know/ I'm crossing my fingers that it at least lessens it quite a bit. I'm not hoping for a miracle but that would be nice!

Well, the healing is a nice plus when it comes to injuries. But there is evidence suggesting that it's also adding to the acne problem. They haven't been able to prove or disprove it yet, but the doctors suspect that the healing thing also leads to a lot of things like micro cuts healing super fast somehow getting dust stuck in or something. I'm not entirely sure what they were saying, mainly because they were using a lot of medical terms, and not talking to me directly, but I think it was something to that extent. All I know for sure is that they were saying something about it somehow contributing to the acne problem, then decided it wasn't worth testing to see if it really was contributing or not because the tests would cost more money than a year's worth of anti-acne creams and such.

I have not been to a dermatologist, although sometimes I think I should go in relation to some brown spots. However my doctor just says those are part of aging. Yikes!!! when did I get old?

You know, we overlook typos, or typeos as I nearly wrote. . So your treatment is probably tetracycline or another antibiotic in that pill. Some form of benzyl peroxide, probably in the gel. Then of course you will be doing some kind of acid, glycolic or AHA or something. All designed to create pretty new skin, that does sunburn easily. I hope you are happy with your results.

Pretty close guess! The e is the tetracycline, I believe. A form of Vitamin A. I'm not sure what the cream is, but the foam I wash with is benzyl peroxide. My face is looking a little better! Thanks!

I have been to a dermatologist as my wife was concerned about a mole on my back so I went to the hospital and had it removed. Nothing apart from that as I think I must have a tough skin as I seldom get bitten or stung by insects even when other people are getting loads of insect bites

I went to the dermatologist for the first time yesterday. I've struggled with acne for years, and I feel like I've tried everything. When I was a teenager I just had my regular doctor give me stuff to treat it. He had me using different creams and antibiotics, and even put me on birth control (to control hormones) when I was 14. When I would come back and say it wasn't working, he would accuse me of not using the stuff he was giving me. Which hurt, cause I WAS, and exactly as he directed too. I gave up trying to get him to help me and tried treating it on my own. I tried all the "miracle" lotions and potions, and when those didn't work... I tried the crazy diets. While I did have BAD days when I was a teenager ( bad as in developing some nasty boils the size of quarters), I haven't seen bad days like that since I was 15. These days, my acne's only moderate on its worst days. But it's STUBBORN. It will not respond to ANYTHING! And it's a battle that I'm really tired of fighting. Knowing my family history, it's highly likely that my acne's only going to get worse again as I grow older. I'm not sure going to the dermatologist is going to be anymore helpful than going to my regular doctor was. He prescribed some different lotions and potions and another oral antibiotic. But I'm at the end of my rope again, and I'd like to believe the experts know what they're doing.

I have been before. They want you to wear that sunscreen no matter what you go in there for. I went because I had an odd dot to come up on my jawline. No biggie but I have spent quite a bit of time in the sun and dots worry me. It ended up being no big deal but sunscreen was highly recommended.

I am not longer on birth control so I don't have to use the cream anymore! I am think going back to one because I have a spot under my mouth which is really dry and no matter what I do it contines to be dry! I hope your pimple problem gets better! Hi Stephanie Ann C: Wow that's so uncool. Even with that I hope you'll be better and after following all the indications from the dermatoogist your skin will be better. I once had to go to the dermatoogist because I have an irritation on my hands. Doctor give me a cream and it works. ALVARO

I haven't been to a dermatologist but I want to. Unfortunately, I don't know how to consult to a dermatologist and I don't know if that will cause me a lot. Will that cause me a lot? I don't have problem with pimples but I have a problem with my skin tone. My body has a lighter color than my face. I want my face to look lighter and brighter too. Some people don't think it's a problem but because I want to improve my look, I want to have lighter and fairer face! But I'm a little embarrassed to ask my mom to let me see a dermatologist.

Actually wearing sunscreen is a must. Even our body skin need to be sun blocked there is no harm preventing a skin cancer. And for your face if the dermatologist prescribed it please followed it, I had a friend who didn't follow the advice and end up burning her face, she doesn't want to put on sunscreen too.

A pimple that turned in a cyst? How awful! I have never been to one but my ex has been. He had really bad skin and on his back he would get these boil-type things that oozed puss. Ugh! Right? When he could afford it he had a dermatologisyt do an acid burn and took the top layer of skin off and alot of the scarring. He had take some medicine too for awhile. It is expensive!

i had visited the dermatologist one time because of a persistent itching on my fingers. turned to be allergy. i was prescribed cream and gel, too, and an anti allergy pill which was said to be a maintenance. i stopped using the pill because it is making me very sleepy at work. i only take it when the itching appears again.

I am a guy, and I don't need a dermatologist for any beauty improvement for now. As matter of fact, my ex - girlfriend had went to the dermatologist for more than several occasion, and she just want to be more beautiful. Now, I think of it, I regret that I waste too much time with her to gone to those dermatologists, because some of them I have to pay for her out of my pocket. I felt stupid that is all.

I did go to my derma around this time last year. I consulted what I thought was skin allergy, since it affected most of my arms, legs and part of my back. So really, derma is not only for girls' beauty improvement like someone said a while back. For acne, my derma suggested oatmeal facial wash.

It is very important to visit a dermatologist, i always have the problem of rashes and need to get advise on it. The important thing to avoid rashes is to keep the affected area dry so that no fungal infection is possible.
