I don't even have a mailbox! It's because it's so rare these days to get things in the mail that are not business-related. I get only my billing from the real estate company from which I purchased a property. My phone, internet, and and credit card bills are sent to me via email. I chose the paperless method because there are no delays and it saves paper which saves the trees which saves the planet.
As I've said I don't have a mailbox so there's nothing to check. When the postman comes, he endorses the mail to the custodian of the apartment building, and he in turn gives us our mail or slips them through the gap under the door.

We are at the same footing, kat. But I like the way you reason as regards how useful and beneficial will it be for the environment if all of us opts for an electronic billing system.
I am not yet attuned to having all of my bills electronically sent to me though. I keep them the way it is for the water and the electric bills. Kind of i love to read the details in paper when it comes to these matters.

I get very little snail mail too. Most things I do are online, but not everything such as government stuff still comes in the mail.

@trinidadvelasco It will take some getting used to. One benefit is that you'll never find yourself searching for a bill that was misplaced, since you have them all in your email. One disadvantage is when you need to present proofs of billing in your name for some official purpose and you don't have any on paper. I had to request my phone company (PLDT) to re-send me paper bills for while so that I could have that proof of billing. Then I went back to getting the bills online.
@winterose I find a lot of convenience in receiving bills online and paying for them online as well. I was weary at first but now it's so easy to pay bills or shop on the internet. However for the more serious stuff such as government-related issues, or real estate, then we get the snail mail. My younger cousins think only big companies send snail mail and ordinary people don't.

Nobody sends snail mails here in our country anymore. So, we got rid of our box. As for the bills, they call or leave it at the door.
If ever there will be snail mails coming, that will surely be bank reminders.
With the cellphone and the e-mail around us, people just no longer bother to send anything through the snail mail anymore.
People's directories no longer carry the complete addresses of the people close to them, rather, one will find that the treasured items these days are e-mails and cellphone number details.

Very true! The last time I received snail mail was in grade school. Now I get just bills, and some of my bills are sent via email as well. I actually don't know the addresses of many of my friends although I know how to get to their homes. I just have their numbers. As for email addresses, not all of them. We mostly communicate via phone or social networking sites.

I have to check my mail every day. Mainly I have to get my bills, and other junk that comes. I actually look forward to when mail doesn't come on Saturday, so I don't have to walk to the end of my driveway to check my box. I really hate when all I get is junk. Feels like a complete waste of my time. So I just wait, til I go outside to wait on my youngest to get off the bus. That way I have to go out anyway. I'm not looking forward this winter. Having to walk that far in snow and ice, ugh.

I live on campus during school working days. So if I have something mailed to me, they are always going to our gatekeeper, who keep my mails for me. Then I will go and get it. I love online shopping and have done a lot of shopping online. When each item comes, the sender will text me a message telling me at what time he will wait for me to get my mail at our school gate. So it is very convenient for me with our gatekeepers' help and with the text messages from the sender. Have a good day, winterose.

Hello. How are you ? Yes, I do check my mail box every day, about the time when the mailman comes. I don't receive letters every day, but still I do not want to miss any. Some days, not letters, but many flyers come. They are enjoyable to read too.

I have many pen-friend from around the world, I like to write to, and get mail to, so many people think that emails and technology, even thay are so useful, do not replace the warm and personal connection that snail mail do.
I do not check my box everyday, because I have my box in the post office downtown, but I do it as often as possible, and I love to get news from my friends.

I am very bad that way. I live in a condo building and we each have a mail box accesible from the lobby. I don't check it every day sometimes not for a week. I should do so however, because I still have friends who write letters and postcards when they are on trips. Also some bank stuff and Government stuff comes to the mail box. I don't know why I am so negligent.

Unless I have a migraine I do check my mail every day. There are usually two days out of the week that I never have any mail, but I try to check. Sometimes I'll get a free sample, or a magazine besides just bills. And on occasion I'll get a nice card from a friend or family member.

You get to see only flyers in your mailbox these days. And most of us have started using Private courier/ cargo services who handover the mail directly to you or a known person and don't put it in mailbox. And most of the things are online now like paying utility bills etc. So use of snail mail has reduced I guess.

I also check my mailbox everyday. Although today I almost don't write snail mails. And therefore I seldom will receive a snail mail. But the bank, telephone company etc. will send me mails every month to tell me the bills I need to pay.
I love China

Our mail is just across the parking lot from our apartment. My daughter checks it daily. I get my Netflix DVD's, birthday cards, housing and rental updates, H&W forms, and things we have to keep up to date. My daughter receives her child support varification too. Yep, still getting important stuff via snail mail.

We don't have mail box but postman will knock on our gate whenever we have some mails or billing to receive.
I have a friend who loves sending cards thru snail mail and I really loved it.
I miss those old days when we send letters and cards to our friends and love ones from far lands and receiving their replies gives us so much excitement as well.
have a good day

I always check my mailbox, because I subscribe to a number of magazines. Also, I get a lot of great coupons, etc. Not to mention, the damn bills. I'd like to gather up all the bills, write "RETURN TO SENDER" on them, and stuff them back into the hole from which they came. LOL

We do generally get at least something in the mail every day, and since we have the box down by the street, it is a good idea to make sure we get it because its a good idea not to tempt the neighborhood kids. I know of at least one time when a child pulled a letter out of the mailbox.

Because I am not expecting much mail so I don't check it often. I know the dates when to check my mails because I am familiar when the bills are coming and I know when the postman is arriving!

I don't need too coz first of all I don't have a mailbox. The mailman will just knock the door and call my name and that's it. There isn't actually anyone sending me snail mails except the bank and the utility bills that comes once every month.
I'd rather check my virtual mailbox aka email ^^

what happens if you have some mail and the mailman knocks at your door but you are not home?
