I was Going to Start a New Topic but Decided Not to

It seems I am in this position more often than not. I think of a topic but when I am about to start I then decide not to. I am scared I might break one rule or the other.
The other day I typed in the whole discussion I was going to start but at the last minute decided to cancel it because I was afraid it may not survive.
Does this happen to you as well?

I rarely start a discussion anyway, so that would not be a problem for me. If I get to a place that I have typed the whole thing it is going to be posted.

yes, i understand what you feel.
i am like that all the time.
i am the coward discussion starter you may say.
when you check my profile you will see i had only two discussions.
well, originally i had three but one is deleted due to some violations. i was aware that it was but i still posted it because i burst into my emotions that i was not really thinking that time and just posted it. anyway it was about the earning thing that did not move for about a week and the senior mylotter says that the admin is taking their rest. i accepted it cause i know really in the first place i was wrong. well, that event gave me a lesson and now that would add to my conscious thinking of starting a discussion.

It used to but I learned how to side step that happening. If you write a discussion as just that and not a poll or question then it will survive. We need to remember what we are about here and not lose sight of what we are trying to do here. And that is to write quality discussions.

Well, in my almost one year here at Mylot and with many many started discussions, i lately got two deleted discussion.
I have to review one of them and i realized i ended it with a question that seems to be asking them if they like it or not. Realizing that it's what made it a poll type, i again copied and pasted it as a new discussion. This time i deleted the last liner. And it was accepted.
I never let it deter me from making new discussions because i noticed , i earn a lot when i start a discussion and it would get lots of responses and i would comment back. Besides, seeing my discussions responded by many , makes me proud that i have made an interesting one.
So, guys start making your new discussions, just be careful .

I was shocked that the topic was deleted because of that reason. So, i reviewed it and saw what made it appear that way , edited and post it again.

Don't feel that way. If you're really worried, just read over the discussion guidelines a few times, print them and have them next to you while you create a discussion. This way you will feel more confident about it. Do not deny yourself or others of a good solid topic that you felt good about writing. I have that about that myself, but I don't think about it. Also, I know that most of us here have had a discussion that we started deleted. But, look beyond that.

its a while since i read the rules but the one that i think is easiest to break is the one about similar discussions, and that is probably where the luck factor comes in most. but i haven't started a discussion in ages as i am just too boring, so i can't remember exactly.
but that seems to me to be the easiest rule to break, the other rules are fairly straight forward, and well within your capability to comply with, 2wicelot.
its a shame a fear of breaking the rules is what puts you off, maybe you are being too harsh on your own poor discussions and seeing contraventions of the rules where none exist, you should be nicer to them, they deserve it.

I start a discussion but since I usually need help on other things that I want everyone here to help me, I don't really think about if its not an appropriate question because I don't really put things like referral links or anything. I just post discussion when I need help and I know that I won't say anything offensive and I know there is nothing I am saying wrong. Unless the rule is, we cannot talk about certain things, then that's another thing.

At least all it does is get the inappropriate discussions deleted better than being banned from here. Yea, we can always try starting discussions, it doesn't hurt to try either. And if they do banned its members for inappropriate discussions, they'll tell us in our email.....but still be careful on the discussions being made haha.

I've done that before, but not because I was afraid I would break the rules. I just suddenly think as I'm writing it, maybe this isn't a good topic after all. Or maybe this isn't the best idea bringing it up in this forum. So I'll have it almost ready to hit submit, but then I just cancel it out altogether.

No, I am not afraid of it. It does not mean that I will start anything but I choose carefully. If you read the guidelines then you will come to know that anything related to earning or celebratilion or milestone or copy another discussion will be deleted.
I always keep these things in my mind.
Happy lotting.

It's understandable to be concerned about breaking any of the guidelines, but I think that would be quickly resolved by reading through it.
As far as getting the reception you want for a particular discussion you post, you could never tell. It's a hit or miss, as long as different people and different dispositions of people are here on the 'lot'.
So, go ahead and post!

Well, unless the topic or the discussion I am about to post is inappropriate after I read it or realize it after I finish typing it. Then I might decide not to post it after all. But if I have great topic, and I would like to share with my fellow mylotters here, I won't hesitate, no matter how much hurdles in front of me. So, I won't afraid of anything, that is what I would do though.

I do but it's not in the lines of "will it be deleted or not". I usually have second thoughts on creating new topics because I think the topic will only interest me :P I'm worried that no people would take interest in it and will just ignore it :D

I don't start discussions often. For me it's not so much that I'm worried about getting deleted though. I just don't like to start a discussion and get no responses. It kind of it a hit to my feelings when no one answers a discussion I thought was pretty good. I usually only start discussions if it's something I need advice or help on.

what has happened to me is im getting agravated with some of my friends. "so called" friends. because i tried to make more then 10 lousy dollars every 2 months, 2 months mind you!! just this last payout and some of my friends nagged me. one even said she reports people,(I took her off my list) so i ended up not making any more again. im getting a little frustrated. so yes, im scared to make any more discussions and now i see how some run others away from mylot.

I think some people take mylotting far too seriously. I see this as a forum have meaningful conversations and to earn a few cents on the side doing that. But it seems some people think they are here to police the forum. I guess it is best to just ignore them and just enjoy mylot.

I admit that I've done it once or twice. But I wasn't as fearful of myLot guidelines as I was wondering how many people would respond.

I just ask myself if those who reply can answer with a simple yes or no or am I asking for anything like a poll. Then I look to see if there is anything the same already started and if not, I post. I hate to see you hesitating because maybe we are missing out of having some good discussions from you.
