I have to travel fairly often on my business trips, within the country and also overseas. I have made it a must to buy travel insurance whenever I travel. Medical expenses can be very expensive at different destinations, and so it is worthwhile to pay for the travel insurance. How about you ? Do you buy travel insurance when you travel ?

Hello Jen. How are you ? Thank you for your response. Insurance can be a bit expensive though, but it is worth it considering the expenses one would have to bear if some thing happens. I wish you good health !

Maybe I got it and didn't realize it..lol. I have went to Japan and various places here in the US but have never heard of the option. I didn't buy my ticket for Japan but I did the others. I ususally get them off of expedia or travelocity. Do you think they offer the insurance too?

I travel especially inside European Community so I don't need any travel health insurance. Anyway I went 4 times in Albania and there I don't have health coverage. When I needed to go to the hospital I had paid for being healed. Even after that case I don't make any insurance. Maybe to go to other countries I'll do it.

Hi Green Line. I always go off traveling with travel insurance for medical expenses, luggage and money. I haven't ever had to call it up due to staying really healthy I am happy to say. Although I have met people that have had to call up emergency medical care on their trip. A lady fell and broke her leg. She can the choice of flying home or staying still for 6 weeks. She decided to stay in Australia and rest up. Then she continued her trip around the world when she was better. A man got very ill and had to have a nurse 24 hours a day. Then he flew home on 3 seats of a plane and had a medical assistant with him. Just think about the cost that his travel insurance company had to pay. A friend of mine visited the USA without any travel insurance! He was very silly doing that because America has the highest medical costs in the world. Medical expenses are just as high next door in Canada.
I feel that regular travel insurance companies do not want to cover my disabled son. When I disclose he has spina bifida and hydrocephalus they say no. I once asked a specialist travel insurance company how much travel insurance would be for my disabled son. It was around £400 for a two week trip. I therefore just get ordinary travel insurance and hope for the best. At the moment I have a years cover of travel insurance for myself, my disabled son and my daughter for around £80.

Hi Maxi. It is very good that you purchase travel insurance on all the trips you make. Yes, medical expences can be very expensive. It is worthwhile to pay the insurance premium every time. Thank you so much for explaining the insurance cases.

Hi Green, i never buy any travel insurance when i go traveling since most of my travel destination was in my own country. Besides that, travel insurance isn't a cheap thing in my country. So, i think i will only buy travel insurance when i am going overseas for my vacation in future.

Okay. That makes sense. Not every time, but I do buy travel insurance depending on the travel destinations too. Thank you.

Since I travel only within my country at present, airline ticketing clerks asked first their passenger if they want to include insurance travel in their fare. Flying hours only takes 1 hr and the most is 2 hrs locally, I always told the clerks not to include travel insurance.
But I guess, it's a requirement if we travel overseas. Travel insurance are already included in the fare especially if bought in travel agencies.

Indeed, very useful, and it is worth it. I make sure that I have the insurance, especially on my overseas trips. Well, good to keep it as a must !

Every single time!
I used to think that insurance is a cheating of the insurance company as I get nothing back for the price I pay until once I am covered by a travel insurance (as demanded by my friend) and I truly need it after the travel. It really helps cover my loss during the trip and then I realized how much less troubles I would have to face when bad things happen during my travel. Since then, I am covered on every single travel.
