Are the christian suppose to participate in halloween celebrations?

I christian and I don't like to participate in any celebration where God is not invoked,my husban is christian too, but he thinks that we have to take positive part of everything, but for me I think that there are not white lies or satanic celebration with its positive part, I don't believe in that. The bible says 1 John 15-17 "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever" The origin of halloween is not christian,this celebration began over 2,000 years ago among the Celts and their pagan priests called the Druids. The Druids are, without question, history’s king of the occult. Witchcraft, Satanism, paganism and virtually all facets of the occult acquire instruction from the Druids. From the popular jack-o’-lantern, trick-or-treat, costumes, to the pranks, ghoulish ghosts, demons, goblins and witches – Halloween owes its morbid birth to the Druids. Halloween glorifies death in worship to Baal or the devil! These grand and glorious pagan celebrations were assimilated by the Catholic church. . . Rather than extinguish old customs, the church leaders provided Christian versions of them: from the Middles Ages on, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day replaced the ancient Celtic celebrations of the dead. The Catholic festival of All Saints Day was also known as All Hallows Day, with the word "hallow" replacing "saints." The day before All Hallows Day (October 31) was recognized as All Hallows Eve. Eventually, All Hallows Eve became Hallows Eve; hallow’even; hallow’en and ultimately today’s Halloween. Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, Hebrew 9-27. Ephesians 5:11 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. My husban and me were invited to a halloween party but I don't want to go and I am not going for the reason already explained even thought the theme is celebrities so we have to be dressed like a celebrity not like a ghost, I still know that the origin of that kind of party is not good. what would do my lotter friend? would you go with your husban or wife or don't?

I can't speak for other Christians, but I don't do Halloween, for the reasons you gave. I will not be a part of any "holiday" that celebrates witches, ghosts and goblins. It's a morbid, satanic time no matter what spin is put on it.

Exactly that is what I mean it doesn't matter if the people want to make it look like is not bad the origin is bad and when we take part on that we become part of their celebration and honor what they are honoring. So I prefer not to go.

Yes you are right, we have to be aware because the bible says the evil dress like an angel to trick us, so even thought it looks like sharing candies season to teach the children to share it is not.

Personally I have nothing to do with Halloween. What the Lord impressed upon me as a pastor years back was to commemorate the Reformation about that time of the year, so that's what we do. I strongly recommend those that name the Name of Christ have nothing to do with Halloween. There's better things to do.

And the bible teld us what are the things we have to take care like this: Philippians 4:8 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Halloween and Christianity have nothing in common. No matter what wrapping one puts on a package, what's inside the package is the important thing. This passage came to mind: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

Absolutely! 1 Corinthians 10:20-21 also has a bearing on this subject. I look at the decorations and they are mostly witches, skeletons, monsters. That should make one wonder!

You are right,sometimes they want to hide the origin of the things giving a noble objective to those celebrations in the actuality, trying to ignore the first and mission of those festivals. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

I'm sure you're doing the right thing. In my circle a long time ago we went along with it, but not now - we know too much about just how occult it is. There are tracts out there about halloween. You could buy or download and print a few to hand out as a "treat" to anyone who comes to the door.

In my country they celebrate that but I never participate on that, but here USA everybody celebrate that, so because of this you notice the diference.

I don't even regard Christmas as a Christian holiday anymore, I just don't find its justification in the Bible. I instead celebrate the day as more of a time to be with my family and relatives, sharing and thanking God for His blessings and help, but to celebrate it like Jesus Christ was really born on this specific day, nah...I'm a little wiser now.

generalising. there are many Pagan paths that predate the Roman pantheon. and there have been festivals around the winter solstice going back a lot further. so it's a very broad generalisation to say that Pagans celebrate Saturnalia. for most it's celebrating the return of the Sun.

I don't celebrate christmas neither because Jesus Christ didn't was born in December because the animals were outside and in December the weather is too cold for the farmers have their animals outside, they can die because of the weather. Luke 2: 8: “And there were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their flocks at night.” In Palestine – as in the rest of the Middle East at the time – shepherds stayed with their flocks in the fields only from Spring to Autumn. They brought their sheep in during the winter to protect them from the cold and rain. It is thus unlikely that the shepherds went to Bethlehem in December. The Bible does not mention the celebration of Christ’s birthday, and the early Christians seem not to have celebrated His birthday. However, to avoid persecution, they would hang holly on their doors during December just as the Roman pagans did for Saturnalia, their feasts honoring their god of harvest. I have read about this the pagans and feast for Saturnalia, you would be surprise to know all what I read, so understood that God is alive and is not interested in birthdays parties, what he wants is to habitate in us, he calling us and wating for our answer, he love us.

Roman pagans first introduced the holiday of Saturnalia, a week long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25. During this period, Roman courts were closed, and Roman law dictated that no one could be punished for damaging property or injuring people during the weeklong celebration. The festival began when Roman authorities chose “an enemy of the Roman people” to represent the “Lord of Misrule.” Each Roman community selected a victim whom they forced to indulge in food and other physical pleasures throughout the week. At the festival’s conclusion, December 25th, Roman authorities believed they were destroying the forces of darkness by brutally murdering this innocent man or woman. In the 4th century CE, Christianity imported the Saturnalia festival hoping to take the pagan masses in with it. Christian leaders succeeded in converting to Christianity large numbers of pagans by promising them that they could continue to celebrate the Saturnalia as Christians. Just as early Christians recruited Roman pagans by associating Christmas with the Saturnalia, so too worshippers of the Asheira cult and its offshoots were recruited by the Church sanctioning “Christmas Trees”. Pagans had long worshipped trees in the forest, or brought them into their homes and decorated them, and this observance was adopted and painted with a Christian veneer by the Church.

I'm a Christian, and personally I don't celebrate Halloween in any way; and wouldn't want to be persuaded to by another. Some Christians are OK with it; but personally I'm not.

Yes s what I can see Carl there are christians that want to say that halloween have a positive part and that it is what they celebrate but for me there is not positive site because the origine is not.

I think Halloween is what you make of it. At our church we throw a Harvest Festival the weekend before or around Halloween. While I don't celebrate it I like to put up decorations like pumpkins, which I guess could also be seen as a Thanksgiving decoration.

That is the same way that my husband think, he says that he say celebrate the positive part of halloween, but to be honest with you I don't think there is nothing positive in this celebrations, even thought the people try to make it positive. Allowing children to participate in the celebration of Halloween may appear to be quite harmless on the surface, but the spiritual implications are far from Christian. In today's world, fortune-telling, ouija boards, ESP, telepathy, horoscopes, voodoo, clairvoyance, yoga, hypnosis, magic, trascendental meditation, Eastern religions, reincarnation, metaphysics and many other practices are expressly forbidden in Scripture. They are related to the occult and Satanic forces. Therefore believers should have nothing to do with them. Note the following Scriptures: "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Ex. 22:18) "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them; I am the Lord your God." (Lev. 19:31) So even thought it looks nice and sweet I tell my son about the true of halloween he understand that it doesn't have anything related to God.

This is a topic that my wife and I have discussed as well. The convictions of a Christian often sound strange when held in the light of the secular world. Regardless, if we feel convicted about something, it is always important to do just as you are doing and to "test the spirits" (1 John 4:6). By recognizing that there are two voices ministering to you (difference of opinion on spiritual matters), it is important to break those voices down, and to decipher the wills that support those causes. Ultimately, the question is: is there something about this holiday that displeases God? Since people identify with Halloween differently, the answer to that question will also be different. For example, if someone thinks of halloween as a time to dress up and give candy to kids, then why would God be displeased? However, if someone uses halloween as an opportunity to dress in skimpy costumes and to cause men to have lust in their hearts, then that holiday does not please God. Because our God is a God of perfect justice, he examines individual hearts to make his judgments. All holidays differ in the way that we perceive them. The modern Christmas is also a pagan holiday. The incorporation of the evergreen tree is a portion of a pagan ritual that has survived even into Christian homes. What power does a ritual have over a man that does not observe it? We have made our own rituals of our tree. Knowing the history behind halloween, is there anything that you natively would want with the holiday? Could you still be a light in the world that shines for love and light while participating in the ritual as you know it? Or has God spoken to you with his Holy Spirit in a whisper, and guided you to a different place?

I do not really like this day that much for myself because of all the evil things. However, it is also confusing perhaps just as the world today is confusing. There are people that like this day and they love seeing little children happy with an activity that geared to them. Many celebrate with joy without evil influence and I am sure God and the angels love to see children happy. It can also be a time for little parties where people dress up for fun that is silly and not serious. When the theme goes evil though I agree it does conflict with Jesus Christ message of peace. Like a very old goodnight stories about witches and such could be frightening to little children if they were told improperly. As for the origins and customs of times and things gone by, we can look to many things and ask serous questions about them. I've read that December 23-25th is a day for false God celebrations long ago and that the wedding ring was once a symbol for pagan worship. Do be ban these things because of their history? I think, what is important is that we keep people safe and have love and God will guide us in the right directions. I remember in the bible when even Jesus went to see the demons and was not afraid of their false powers.

Good point Bluedoll. Because of this is important to know the why? the origin of the things to know to whom in reality are we honoring.
