I bet you even work for more money than it takes you to do your job.. which means you work for a profit. I bet you even wish you could get a raise. Which means you want even more money! I bet you would even do something you absolutely hate doing, just for the money. If doing things for money is what defines "Greed", then people who do any or all of the above must be the greediest people alive! :~D

Yes, I am greedy! I want enough money to pay all my bills, be able to give to charity, help out my children and other family members and save for my retirement. Would they rather I make THEM do all that with their taxes? Greed is defined differently for most people. I think greed is the insatiable lust for material goods no matter who gets hurt in the acquisition. In other words, harming others to get what you want. Collecting material goods without hurting others is not greed.

So you want money to do with what you want, and you don't want others telling you what you have to do with it, right?

Yup, and people protesting in the "occupy" movement have no right to tell the "rich" people they hate what to do with their money either.

Right. Nobody has the right to tell me what to do with the money I earn. If I was collecting money from the taxpayers that would be different.

You wouldn't be speaking of capitalism, would you? You know, that system where people are encouraged to be greedy and work to make money for themselves, by themselves? More than they need, I mean. They're even encouraged to buy things they want and save their own money for the future instead of throwing it into a pot so those who can't be bothered to work can have it. That system? We used to use that system here...

Quite simply, greed is what makes the world work. What is greed? "greed (grd) n. An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth" http://www.thefreedictionary.com/greed So let's break it down. What do you need? Food, water, clothing, and shelter. If you want more than these basic necessities, you are greedy. If you want money in the bank, you are greedy. Clearly any money you aren't spending is more than what you need. If you want a car, Iphone, Xbox, etc. you are greedy. The word "deserve" is more difficult to address since greedy people, rich and poor, seem to feel they deserve everything. I'm baffled by how poor people apparently DESERVE free phones, money for not working, etc.

Yes, I think the optimal words here are "excessive", "deserves" and "needs". If you just have a basic desire for more than what you deserve or need, it's not really greed. It's just a want.

Heck yes I am greedy! People at work laugh at me because I will do just about anything for a dollar. Mostly only legal stuff! I work overtime every chance I get, I volunteer for tips only if need be. I started cooking at work, so I will bake you a pie or make you a gallon of soup for a low low fee. I am a bar tender in a veterans club, day shift - not so good for tips. I now make lunches three days a week. This increased my money significantly but I put ALOT of work into as well as my own money. Yes, I am greedy.

So does this include, if you spend money, you must be gready, because you have it to spend. So if you get assistance, you must be greedy?

Yes. If you get assistance, you are greedy. It is not that hard of a concept. Our whole economic system operates on greed.
