There are many explanations but I believe that the most legit is the one that I read a few years ago. It mostly concerns like witches and stuff. it have been awhile so I don't remember much about it.
By the way, my favorite number is thirteen because I was born on the 13th.

Nobody seems to know for sure why 13 is considered unlucky. What is true, however, is that it hasn't always been an unlucky number, indeed, quite the reverse. Some cultures seem to have regarded it as a very auspicious number, probably partly because there are approximately 13 lunations in a year.
It seems that the tradition of 13 being unlucky may derive, at least partly, from the fact that there were 13 people present at the Last Supper (Jesus and His 12 disciples) and that one of them betrayed Him. It may also have been pronounced 'evil' by early Christians simply because it was a 'good' number in the religions which Christianity sought to replace.
Even today, not everyone regards 13 as unlucky. In fact, many sportsmen have consciously and purposely worn the number 13 believing it to be lucky for them.

for me it's never been an unlucky number.
in fact, it's my lucky number. it's the date of my birthday and there are 13 lunar months in the year, which makes it lucky.
I think some Christians think it's unlucky because of the number of people at the last supper. . but as I'm not a Christian, that doesn't make it unlucky for me.

In our community also the people beleive the number 13 is unlucky number but no one can know the reason. They said because their parents tell this or grandfather fill this so everyone trust on it. Even they also feel 3 is unlucky number. But I feel 3 and 13 is lucky number for me. IF God give us the blessing then everyday and every number is lucky number otherwise any number is unlucky number.

I don't consider number 13 as unlucky number and with me more people don't.
In the old believes/religions number 13 was not an unlucky number at all.
As the new religion showed up everybody was forced to give up his old believe. To make it a bit easier the new believe took over some old religion celebrations days/dates. Eastern, Halloween and Christmas are good examples of that.
Those who didn't join the new religion.. well we all know what happend to them. Also we all know what church/new religion said about everything that was not the way they wanted it to be or fitted in their new believe. It's from Satan, the Devil etc.
If you are really interested you can find a lot of info about "13".
It will only be an unlucky number if you believe in it. This way you will make come true yourself what you are afraid of.
PS even jesus had not 12 desiples but 13, one of them was a female. And the new church was not open for women. They abandoned the women out of the church ánd the bible. Some bible books were written by female not male! New religion kicked out the women included the Godes(ses), the only creature that can give life.

according to historians, there were 13 people at christ's last supper and christ was crucified on friday 13th.so,friday 13th or number 13 is considered as unlucky number.in some christian countries they believe it is unlucky number and they don't prefer it.in some hotels also there is no room number 13.because no one is willing to take that room.mostly christian's will believe it.
