Should I buy or make it?

Well I guess it comes down to how much work you want to put into it. Baking takes a lot of time and work. Are you willing to put that time and energy into this?

Baking does really take a lot of time. I guess I'm willing to sacrifice enough time for that. Thank you for responding.

Yep it takes a lot of time and you need to have the know-how, so it really depends on you. If you can make them, then why buy? If you can buy them, why make? If I were you I'd buy and resell because I don't have time to bake, I don't know how, and I don't have the equipment, plus baking doesn't interest me.
You say you're willing to scarific time, which means you enjoy baking, which means you should do it!

Yeah you really need to know how to bake them. Maybe I should just bake it. That's what most people are suggesting here. Thank you for the suggestion.

I think that you will be able to make a lot more money if you choose to buy the ingredients separately rather than if you buy the cookies and then try to sell them on. Have you thought about the people who you're going to be selling these things to? If you don't have enough of a target audience then you probably won't be able to earn anywhere the amount of money that you're hoping to make at this point. I have tried something like this once, and I was lucky if I managed to make $10 from working an entire day, which just wasn't enough when you take into account the amount of money and effort that goes into the work.

I haven't really thought much about that. Maybe I would sell that to my friends. Well, what you said was true. I'm not sure of this yet though. Maybe I'll just try my luck with a few cookies at first. Thank you for responding.

Hi clearwater, its really a good idea now that the xmas season is just around the corner. I also sell some chocolate bar and some goodies about a year ago, and as far as for me, its best that you make your own version of cookies than to bought and resell it, though its not a bad idea to just resell the items less time to prepare, but making your own version of cookies and cupcakes its make your customer keeps coming back to you.
I think i should do that again also, another income this holiday season.

A lot of people are really selling goodies especially during the Christmas season. I think because it's usually the time for giving out presents and all. I guess that's a good idea if I will be the one baking it. Yeah make one too. It can really serve as your income since lots of people will be buying it during Christmas season. Thank you for responding.

Nowadays women cook only if they have enough time to do it.We are all too busy so that we buy all those fake things in the supermarkets.I prefer to cook myself because I put only the things I want and like and I know it is natural.I can give you some examples of strange objects I have found in my food from a restaurant or a shop but I prefer I don't recall these moments.

Women have so many things to do and so they have little time to cook. But cooking it yourself is much better I think. Thank you for responding.

Well in my opinion baking at home is preferable. of course there is lot of work involved but this is more profitable and you will feel really satisfied at the end of the day.

You're right! If we bake it, we can choose and decide as to what shape we want the cookies to be. Yeah if we buy them, we have to sell them right away because they might get spoiled. Thank you for sharing with me your opinion.

Hi clearwater!
I think it would depend on a lot of factors. Like, if you have a lot of time for baking, then I think you should make it yourself and then sell them. I think it's cheaper that way and you can even "personalize" your cookies and cupcakes and you can bake them according to your taste.
If you don't have the time and you have a lot of capital, then I think it's okay to buy them and then resell them. This will be time-saving and you'll have more time in selling.
Good luck!

Hi secretbear! Most people have also been telling me to do baking since I can customize the cookies and personalize them the way I want to. So, I guess I'll really choose baking. Thank you for responding.

If you can make some and can estimate that the amount that you can make and sell would definitely return the investment that you have given to it, I would suggest on baking your own.
If you think it would be much better to resell already baked cookies, perhaps you can buy them in bulk and repack them yourself, and then estimate that you can earn back your initial investments, together with buying already baked cookies in bulk and the repacking that you would do, I would consider this option.
You just have to consider how much you can gain and how much you can lose for each option before deciding on what you actually want to venture your investments on. ('_^ )

That's good to hear that you are confident in choosing that option that you have mentioned.
Aside from knowing how much you are actually going to spend when it comes to baking those cookies yourself, you can also decide on how your merchandise would look like as you would be baking them yourself ('_^ )
Repacking already baked cookies wouldn't allow you as much freedom to customize it. You can however add some to it perhaps ( ^_^)

With baking, I can get to decide what shape I will choose or what ingredients I would like to include in the cookies. With buying, I don't think I can customize it anymore. So, thank you for that. :)

Why thank you for that suggestion. I really have to decide as to which of the two I can profit more. But I think it will be the baking thing because I will have the control of everything. I will know the prices of the ingredients so maybe I can earn more with that. Thank you for responding.

I would lean more tward making them and buying some. Of course you must weigh your costs and what you would be able to sell them for. Though an idea that comes to mind if you rely only on them being made by someone else what if they change their product line up? what if they go out of business, this would cause you to go out of business and change your line up which may or maynot be a good idea. If you resell them you will probably also need to give your supplier credit for their wares. Like a local grocery store here does not make their own bakery but has an actual bakery supply it to them.... they have to disclose that they sell their bakery.

Yeah you're very right. If I'll just buy the cookies, there's also a possibility that the store where I'm buying the cookies will get closed. So, I guess I'm just choosing the baking thing. Thank you for responding.

Making it may seem like more work but at least you will know every ingredient that goes in. I often ask questions about the product that I'm buying. You will probably gain more also because you have the complete control on the mark up and stuff. You can add bigger mark up without it being too expensive.

If it were me I would prefer to bake them, I guess I just like to bake and enjoy the smell of them and being able to eat them as well. But when it comes down to it, it really all depends if you are willing and/or able to put in the hours into baking.
But good luck anyhow and I hope your successful in your sale!!!

Well good luck, you know what the best thing about baking is, that you get to test and retest the product, yummy cookies and cupcakes and if you break the diet or eat to much you have the excuse that you were making sure everything was tasting good LOL

I think you can do both. If you love to do business with it, then you can go ahead to sell them. If you just want to eat them, you can just keep them. If you love to bake, you can do both, as it can be a business of yours while you are enjoying the fruits of your own labor. I think only you can make the best decision of all. If I were to be asked, I do not like to bake. I do not like to cook. I just love to eat. Therefore, I can be a customer of yours actually.

hi there Cw!
for me.. it would be best and safer if you would make it.
there's a lot more of the advantages when you do it yourself rather than have someone done it.
first is that you can save more and the quality of the goods would be outstanding since you need not to commercialize the taste of it to save since you can just adjust to the ingredients if you want to save.
cupcakes and cookies are best when it's home made.
and another thing is that you are sure that what you have made is stomach friendly unlike when you just bought it there could be some risks.
though this would really take much time.
but i'm sure all the hard work would pay off if you could sell all your products.
that would be worth it.

I can also see that there really are a lot of advantages if I will be the one to bake them. I will be able to save a lot and also earn more if I will be baking them. I can also keep track of the ingredients if they haven't expired yet or aren't spoiled so there would be no health issues encountered by the consumers. You're very right. I just need to have patience in making them and also hard work. I know at the end, it will all be worth it. Thank you for responding.

In my case, it would be much easier to buy and then sell rather than make and then sell. I am an awful cook and I can't perfect anything. Just last night I made a tasty but overcooked chopsuey and I was so ashamed to see that there was more than half left on the platter.
It all depends on your skill, your budget and your time.
If you would want a signature food, something you can call your own, then making it yourself is the way to go.

I agree. It also depends on the skill because what if I don't know how to bake well, the cookies would be bad. But then, it's still nice to be able to do something by your own. With patience, hard work and dedication, surely everything will go perfectly. Thank you for responding.

Hi! clearwater i suggest you make the cookies yourself. If you can make other crafts for the Christmas season it would be better so that buyers can choose which one they need or maybe they coud buy both. Aside from selling your goods, you can also give them away as gifts. Besides, gifts that are made or prepared by the giver adds personal touch to the item and that makes the gift more precious.
Just don't forget to keep a cheerful and loving heart while preparing the cookies.

That would be a great idea. That gives them more options to choose from. I was planning to do that too - giving them as gifts. Yeah gifts that you know were really made with effort and hard work are very valuable. I will keep your advice in mind whenever I will bake my cookies. Thank you for responding.

Well, in cooking cookies or other way of making money, you must take into account that more and more people want something special or customized. Any cookies can be found easy, but special cookies at customer's order are really unique and so they are paid better. Do not forget to use healthy natural ingredients!

For sure if I would really pursue this business, the customers would want some designs on it and of course, since it's customized already, it would be more expensive. So I really just need to do baking. Thank you for the advice. I won't forget that. Thank you for responding.

i think you should just make your own cookies and then sell it. i think you'll have a higher margin if you make them then sell than buying and selling them. also, by making them, you're able to put your personal touch on the products you are selling.
