For over a year now I've had where one of my ears is congested. I've tried cleaning it, and it hurts when I put anything in it (or stings really). It gets cleaned a little, I hear better, but it seems like my hear has fluid or pressure in it because it will pop and I hear much better after it does but it doesn't last long. Do you think it could be allergies? I don't take many allergy pills at all, or could it be fluid in my ear?
I just want it to be where I can hear already! I put peroxide in it, and that's what makes it sting a little, I don't leave it in for very long. What would you suggest I do? I'm tired of not being able to hear! It gets itchy so I know it needs cleaning out.

Itching could mean it is healing. Here is an article on ear infection symptoms:
http://ear.emedtv.com/ear-infection/ear-infection-symptoms.html
When you should see a doctor:
Symptoms last for more than a day
Ear pain is severe
Your infant or toddler is sleepless or irritable after a cold or other upper respiratory infection
You observe a discharge of fluid, pus or bloody discharge from the ear
An adult with ear pain or discharge should see a doctor as soon as possible.

It only stings a little when I put peroxide in it, the annoyance is that I can't hear out of it and it pops. I think I should just leave the peroxide in for longer, see if it helps with the hearing, and then if not or even if so go see a doctor about the ear popping.
Thanks for looking that up for me. I kinda know the symptoms of an ear infection, never had one myself (bad ear aches though) but have had family who have, poor baby!

There is always warmed oil that will sooth it when it aches.

You need to go to the doctor who specializes in such ear infection. I am Nursing undergraduate and I am not proud of the fact that there are times when I do self medication but there are many things that I do not know how to cure. There was this episode when my ears got infected its because of using cotton buds to clean my ears that some of the fibers remain in the ear chamber. We need to use small spoon like device to clean our ears and leave the use of the cotton buds for the outer ear. Lessons learn.I was having a hard time hearing and It seems there is some water inside my ear. After the doctor give me ear drops to make the clogs clean up my ears are now back to normal.

I would definitely go see your family doctor. You could have an inner ear infection and you may need some drops and antibiotics for it.

You could have an inflamed ear canal. Or I think you've probably got an infection. If it goes on long enough, you could have other problems. Scarring, deafness, and my brother let his infection go on so long that it had gone close to his brain. A couple more weeks and it would have gone to his brain.
Or it could be just inflamed and the gunk can't come out. I don't know what you can do because when I use hydrogen peroxide, my ears are fine except when they become infected.

hi, cowgirl! It seems like you have a severe ear infection. to be safe I storngly advice you to see a doctor (ENT doctor).
Hope it's not that serious when you get to see your doctor for consultation. WE should always put our health first more than anything else. Prevention is better than cure after all :)
Hope you'd feel loads better soon.

From what I've read in your question and from a personal experience I would suggest it is some kind of fungus. It causes fluid accumulation inside the ear and disturbes the ability to hear well. It may also cause itching which can be very annoying. Go see a specialist and never try to clean the ear with a dry cotton stick. Specialists recommend using cotton sticks soaked in 1% or 2% solution of spiritus salicilicus. It works fine on the fungus and relieves the itching.
I hope I was helpful.

It could be allergies, or a fluid build up. Get a regular ear cleaning product like Debrox or another, as they will not sting. You may have to use it several times, like morning and evening for a week. Normally our ears get clean when we shampoo our hair and then dry it. Even if you do not use a hair dryer for your hair, you can try a blow dryer on low directed at your ear to see if that helps. You may even want to have the doctor clean them once. Personally, but I know what I can take, I would take a decongestant, as that would help dry the fluid. You really need a professional opinion.

SomeCowgirl,
Did you catch a cold or respiratory infection recently?
You really sound like you've got a form of ear infection or inflammation with the middle ear - Otitis media which features fever, ear pain, and a feeling of fullness in the ear.
You will need to see if your condition has reached acute or chronic stage. The former would have fluid accumulation in the middle ear together with signs or symptoms of ear infection; a bulging eardrum usually accompanied by pain, or a perforated eardrum, often with drainage of purulent material and accompanied with fever.
Comes chronic which will be an accumulation of the acute conditions over 3 months which I hope it is not, which causes cause ongoing damage to the middle ear and eardrum, and there may be continuing drainage through a hole in the eardrum. It would be ill-advisable to self treat or medicate with the acute or chronic stages.
Known home remedies like humidified air, homeopathic treatments, naturopathic ear drops, decongestants, and antihistamines; there are limited studies suggesting the benefits of these measures over accepted and recommended treatments.
Again, it is highly recommended that you consult your family doctor or better still a ear specialist but since you are waiting for your insurance, I'd recommend that you check on the link below to understand and correctly pinpoint your current condition. (Don't worry it is not a referral link.)

I honestly think you should see an EENT (ears, eyes nose and throat) specialist doctor, I do not want to give a self diagnosis but it could be otitis media or infection of the middle ear that might make you lose hearing or perhaps impacted cerumen or impaction of earwax common with people with a history of otitis media, again have a specialist look into that before it becomes serious.

I think you dig you ear too frequently and cause the ear drum to damage. Last time I used to dig my ear due to itchiness, the more I dig, the more itchy it gets. So the best solution is try to endure it as much as you can.

What kind of fluid you have in your ear?
Is it like water or more yellow, thick or thin?
You have to stop with the peroxide this can make it even worse, so is cleaning whole time.
Do you have problems with your eyes and nose as well since you mention allergies?
The way you tell it now it sounds more like irritation, a bad one, perhaps even infection by now. I would advice you to visit a doctor and let your ear check up before it's getting worse or you are deaf.

I suggest you to go to a doctor and have a check up. This problem happens due to excess amount of bacteria build up inside your ears causing allergies and itchy feeling. One of my friend suffered from exactly the same problem and the doctor gave him few medicine and cream. After a week or two, he got cured and was normal.
So go see a doctor.

Please warm up hydogen peroxide and put the drops with the help of the syringe and stay for some time. Then do the same with the other ear. Be attentive to use the warmth should not hurt but must be comfortable. You must be suffering from synus. Be careful not to wet the inside part of the year. If the water has entered inside dry it with cotton buds. Use the clean dry tissue paer to clean. Do it for sometimes. You may surely get relief.
