Hey friends, due to technology people are now more and more engaged in reading e-books on there personal computers or tablets... and have suddenly lost interest in reading books manually by keeping them in their own hands... People have a luxurious feeling by reading books in their tablets and pcs and i quite agree with it...But what a great feeling comes when we read books by keeping them in our own hands, by touching them, by hugging them, by making our shelves and cupboards full of books, which i love... What suits you more???? What are your views about this thing???
well according to me future generations will never get to read some real books...
happy posting...

Hello eeshan!
To be honest, I have mixed feeling about this topic. I love books, any type of it. Recently I read more ebooks and I haven't touched paper book for 2 years. It takes so much space to them and if you're not careful it would collect dust. I am allergic to dust so it's not an option anymore.
Ebook is so much more convenient.

There is something about the feel of having a book in your hands and there is something about the smell of books that has not let me join the ebook revolution at this point in time.
Now, I will also say that there is a part of me that would like to have an ereader because the cost of books that way is a lot cheaper than purchasing a traditional book, but my affinity will always be toward the printed book.

I have a Kindle that I read on every once and awhile. However, I still buy regular books. I enjoy the feel of a book in my hand. I enjoy my Kindle also! I usually just get the free ebooks that I find on Amazon to read on my kindle. I have started a Stephen King collection, hard back books, and I have maybe half of the collection. I do prefer to have a regular book in my hands though.

Although I love the feel of handling paper as I read a book, I must admit that I like the convenience of an e-book too. I like that it's the same weight, and it could have a number of books in one gadget. I also like that it takes no space in terms of shelving, and that it doesn't gather dust if left unattended.

It is sad that future generation will not get to read books anymore because of these ebooks. I also don't like ebooks because they don't have the smell and touch of real books. Now, book lovers will agree with me on this, the smell of the books and papers are so good. I always associate books with the rain. I can never picture ebooks and rain together. They just don't go.

Hello, eshaan.
Until now, I prefer the old style of doing things. I am forcing myself though to learn more and more about how to operate and maintain computers as there is the possibility that I will get to be living separate ways with my children.
I have never read books through computers. I always read them as novels held in my hands or magazines that I flip with my own fingers.
I hope that the future generations can still have their fill of real books just as, there is no substitute to being able to climb trees and harvesting some fruits yourself.
I am aware though that there are some people who have never seen a potato plant nor a tomato plant yet, the root crop/fruits thereof they are consuming so much.

Hello dear friend and thanks for your quick response... I too prefer that style because you should always do things which give you the real joy and according to me the real joy of reading is given by reading books manually... This is how you can enjoy it,... Well i dont think so that the future generations will ever be able to possess the real joy of doing various things... They will do everything by pcs and might be some latest technologies, because we do not know how many new things scientists will discover... They wont even know that there used to be books which had pages made up of paper...
well, we are getting that joy so we should enjoy it at our fullest

Technology it taking over. I have to admit that I read on my computer and it's not the same as reading out of a book. I have not invested into a tablet or and ereader yet cause I use my computer to do the same thing. One if these day I have to admit that I will invest into a tablet. Yet right not they cause a little to much. I will wait for them to go down a little cause overtime they come out with something new. But the next year they have something better and it cause more. So right now I have to stick with my computer it does the job for me.
You did make one good point though when it comes to curling up with your book before you close your eyes to go to sleep it is better that doing that with an ereader, tablet or computer. The book you don't have to plug up and charge like those devices require for you to do. With the book you can close it and just cut off the light and go to sleep. Instead of shutting it down or cutting it off.

Hi friend, its good to know that you are going to invest on a tablet, really its a good thing... You are right friend that books need not be charged and using a book is as simple as using any other thing... because just close it and keep it when you are going to sleep..

I like real books to read. Those that you read while in your bed, your glasses on and you place a marker on the page when you want to sleep. It´s a ritual, as it was a ritual when I was little that I had to beg my mom to let me finish the chapter.
Now there are several books that are easier to find on the web, specially classics. If you don´t have them, it´s better to check first online. But I still prefer the old way.

And then, there´s the pleasure of keeping them and having them to reread the parts you liked best. I have some books on my bookshelves that I have read so many times that I have to keep them in a plastic bag. Yet they are there, waiting.

Nowadays, i barely have read any book anymore except for my bible and daily devotional. I now find it more interesting to search online for some questions i would like answered .
However, i have in mind to read some good books, when we will have our long Holidays comes Christmas time. But i doubt again if i really will have the time, because it seems i would again prefer Mylotting when that time comes!

Yeah, in the future everything will be electronic, libraries probably won't even exist anymore! You wouldn't go to your local library and manually browse for some books. Now you can just browse and download e books online. At my school, all books are like electronic now, all the textbooks that we get you simply just slide in the CD and copy the textbook onto the laptop. I'm still traditional and I don't bring my laptop to class. I prefer to carry my heavy textbooks because they are so much easier to flips the pages than having to school down a page on the laptop. But I for casual reading, I prefer to read on the computer because I can find books that actually fit my taste and are more interesting.

I like reading real books. I buy them cheap on ebay and amazon rather than from an expensive bookshop. I find that reading online hurts my eyes after a while but I agree that it is a great technological advance, though you need to keep hardcopies of useful reference books that tell you how to do things, as you won't be able to access the ebooks when the grid goes down just at the time you need the information. After I finish reading non reference books I sell them, so at least get some money back, you can't do that with ebooks......

I love books! In my opinion there is no technology that can take the place of actually sitting down and reading a book! There's just something about the feel, the touch, the turning of the page! It can not be replaced!

Hi friend, you are damn correct because technology can make alternatives for everything but not our feelings because they are something which can hardly change...in fact for some people, it can never change... What we like is what we like and it cannot be easily changed... A latest tablet has been launched in which you can feel like you are turning the pages of an e-book by arrows given on the screen but for me that also does no works, the real feeling is something very unique...

I think a lot of people have lost interests in books, but there are the people like me who love the feel of having a book and I will instill that to my children. I don't think we need things like the kindle or nook to read a book when there are perfectly good books sitting on the shelf. The devices are too expensive for me and then you still have to buy the book. i love having shelves full of books.

I honestly still think that the e-book could never beat the real book. Yes, it may look fancy to read books through a kindle or a device, but I find monitors to be glaring and there's that monotonous feel to it.
Unlike in real books, you could flip through pages, smell the paper and ink, not to mention the 'feel' of holding on to a book is priceless!
But the good side of the whole kindle or e-book thing is the fact that people now read more than they used to. Perhaps it's just a fad, but atleast they're reading more.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I really enjoy my e-reader. The books i put on it are books i would borrow from a library and return (fiction) If they are books by an author i really enjoy i tend to support that author and purchase their book.
Reselling the book tends not to be an option for myself as i buy them because im collecting them not to read and get rid of.
E-books actually tend to save me money...and i can share them with my mom which also saves her money. This being said they save me money several ways...i dont have to drive to the library (which is either 15 minutes drive to town or 45 minutes drive to the city) i can download them in my home directly to my computer. I dont have to have extra storage space for them...leave them behind for extra space on trips or...Sit and wait months for a new release because 20 other people got on the list before me for the library...when the list is that long often i give up and buy it...Being able to digitally read it...saves that wait and money.
I love the smell and feel of books...i'll get one just for that but..i love the convience of a ebook.

Printed books is the thing for me. Though I have some e-books I mean to read when I am at a loose end, I find actual books to stil be the best. I can't stare at a screen for a long time or I'll get a headache. I have even tried audiobooks and it wasn't the same. The library is a favorite place of mine. I sure hope they will still continue printing books magazines and other printed material in the future.

I bought many books for my baby, everytime he got the booka, hands lifted them, said"smelled good!".And then read and read. It's just like eat delicious food.I also have plenty e-books,it's very easy and cheap to get them, but you want read them, you should use computers.I don't like my baby read e-books more time before the computer, because it's no good for his eyes.Reading is a good habit, but we should select the good mothed.
