Crying over someone elses dog dying

My sister's dog died yesterday and when my wife found out she cried for about an hour and got teary eyed throughout the night. My wife really loves dogs and she loved this dog even though it was not ours, but we did pet sit her a lot. Have you ever cried over someone else's pets death?

Yes, I have cried over others people pets dying. sometimes for animals I don't know if they had a sad story to tell.. it will get to me.
I have cried over my own animals deaths sometimes for days... sometimes I have nightmares and it takes a while to get used to them not being there.
