Hi there~
I hope you've watched X-Men: First Class or you might not know what I'm talking about.
In the scenes near the ending of the movie, when all the mutants were on the beach, Erik was sending the missiles/rockets back to the fleets. During this time he and Charles also fought as Charles tried to stop him. There is once when Erik shouted to the other 4 X-Men to back off and he also managed to fling them backwards. This is a little confusing for me.. Erik only controls metal... so how was he able to throw them backwards just by lifting his hand? I did think that maybe there was metal in either them or their suits but it didn't make sense to me. If there was metal in their bodies, then there would also be metal in everyone else's bodies since they didn't seem to have taken anything special. And having metal in their suits... seriously? Doesn't that just sound odd? Why would they have metal in their suits??
Did you notice this? Any possible explanations?

This can be explained the same way if you ask how can Magneto fly? Magneto levitates himself by simply manipulating the magnetic field around him. Maybe he can use this same principle to manipulate the magnetic field around those near him, thus enabling him to repel or attract others away or towards him.

Erm I think Magneto has metal on himself... His helmet for example... but I suppose your theory could be possible...

The metals on his body would only be effective if his body is attached to those metals. Otherwise it would be difficult to that. For the helmet for example, it would be like pulling your head when you manipulate the direction of the metal with magnetism...

I suppose the belt and buckles could be a reason.... but your belt and buckles are not fully metal... its just one small piece of metal... I kinda doubt you can go flying just because of one tiny metal piece on your belt

If you follow How Erik's powers work, He can also manipulate the metals and irons found in blood. He was focused enough at that point it was just a passing thought and very powerful proof of his true capabilities. On a side note this was a very surprisingly good movie.

Metals found in blood? It's less than 1% of your body. I hope you're not referring to the incident of how he escaped from his plastic prison by taking out the metal from inside the guard....that metal was injected by Mystique into the guard's body after she knocked him out
