I am never much braver than when I was younger.

I used to love watching horror movies as kid. There seem to be not really that horrifying for me. But since I grew older and learned so much about the world and all the other scary things that could possibly happen I began to fear a lot of things. They say the Paranormal Activity was really scary. I would really love to watch it for I am really so, so curious, but I have this fear that it might affect me because I can be really nervous at times and sometimes living alone with the children. I would only watch a scary movie with someone else even at day time. But still the feeling is different. Zombies are the scariest to watch. How about you. Are you much braver now or when you were much younger.

i think i am stronger now than i am before. i am convinced of the other beings that are around with us but this does not bother me as much as they bother me before cause for the 21 years of existence i have not come across with these beings. i am confident that they won't harm us unless if we have weaker faith. it really is important that we stay Faithful since with God we are safe. nothing could ever harm us.

You are very right. When I am scared I always say "God saves me" and it makes me feel better. And when I am really scared being with the two children alone I would pray and know that we will be fine. It is true that they don't bother us and strong faith in God is very important to feel safe. God bless!

Yes, i am much braver now than when i am younger, while i grow older, i finally realize that it is just a movie, nothing to be afraid of no matter how horrific it is, compare to my younger day, i can overcome my fear quite easily due to the fact that i get to learn and accumulate more knowledge than before, all these horrible scenes are only screen play make to scare viewers most of the time, and many of them are just camera tricks for entertainment purposes.

Halo dear lampar. It is really good to be seeing you all. It brings back the old nice feeling that I used to be here at mylot often before I delivered my baby. I am glad to hear you are much braver now. I guess I have to emulate how you take horror movies to be just movies and learn not to be scared anymore so I could finally watch the Paranormal Activity. Haha. I am still thinking about it for I have been really curious. I know that it is just a state of mind. That my fear is all just in the mind. I have to try that because it isn't also healthy for me to be scared of all these things all my life. Take care.

I am glad to see you back here, my friend! Welcome again...hope everything is fine with you. I supposed horror movie should be horrific at least in the mind of the viewers, then only it can be considered as a 'SUCCESSFUL HORROR MOVIE'. There is nothing wrong with you, it is because the director is able to come out with good script, camera tricks and staging to scare the hell out of you from his screen talents, if not, who want to go see a horro movie that make you laugh instead of feeling scary.

I will be the opposite of you. I could say that I am braver today than when I was younger. When I was young, I am easily made believed that ghosts, zombies, monsters and other things are real. When my parents want me to go to sleep, they will scare me so that I would go to bed early. But now, I knew that those scary things are just a byproduct of our imagination. I know that they are not real (well for my belief only) and that it only us and our imagination that can create those thing. Although sometime my mind take over and i got scares of these things. But most of the time I am able to overcome this fear thinking that they are not real.

Yes I do agree that we should really be braver when older because we get to understand more and learn more. I just can't understand why I have grown this way. Maybe there are other issues in my life that I have feared and have affected my views on horror movies somehow. I have to think about all you said and try to learn from all of you so I don't have to be fearful anymore.

Just like you, I too was a lot braver as a kid. Even as a single person. But the minute I got married, and moreso after becoming a mom, I became a "scaredy-cat"! I am no longer the thrill-seeking lass I used to be. I think it is because I feel that I now have more to lose...my family. That if something happens to me, I will leave my husband and daughter behind. Aaarrrgh! Now I'm getting scared again just at the thought of that. :(

Oh we are just the same. I also started becoming to be scared about a lot of things after having a child. Even all the other things that does not even concern about motherhood. I would be very careful even at walking around the house because I might stumble and can be injured and die from it. We really need to overcome it at least because it isn't a nice feeling to be always scared. Sometimes we get scared unreasonably for things that we don't have to be scared of. And it is just terrible because it takes part of our happiness in life. Take care my friend.

It's funny how you think you;ll grow out of something and once you did mature, you realized that you're no different compared to when you were a kid. I'm in my late teens now but I still have the same fears that I did when I was a kid. When I was a child, I use to fear the insides of the body like the stomach and heart but I had to learn it in elementary school. We had to go to the cinema theater to watch a whole documentary based on the anatomy of the human body. It was my biggest nightmare! I closed my eyes for most of it and I kept thinking about it when I tried to sleep at night. Now, my fear is still there but not as bad but I would never be a surgeon! Some fears you may have you simply just can't grow out of.

Oh that is sad. But I can understand that there are really a lot of things that we can't help getting scared of. All we have to do is to try to overcome it. But don't be scared of your own body. Don't worry there are other professions. You don't have to be a surgeon anyway. And glad your fears are not as bad as before. I am sure you will overcome all of it in no time. Take care.

It is a good question, but I think it depends on one's life, and character. It is not that you are not brave, it's not about that. The fact is now, after seeing much hurt, suffering, hunger in the world, you become affected, that is an altruistic feature. You were indeed affraid as a child, but as a grown person, you feel the pain, not the fear. You have seen too much to stay without feelings. That is the sign of a sensitive person, at least in my opinion.

That is wonderful sandacocos. I also agree with that. That is such a very nice thought. It is indeed one of the major factors that can affect a persons character. Welcome to mylot.

Hi! I also do not like watching horror movies. What is the need to make us feel stressed? I love to watch simple romantic and comedy movies.

I think that in some ways I am much braver than I was before I was younger but in other ways, I was far much braver when I was younger. I think that in a lot of ways, I was far more trusting with a lot of things. With a lot of times I was rather a bit more likely to dive right into things, then I would be when I was much older and much wiser. Of course bravery is not a good thing in certain instances as it is going to lead to risks. Still there are a lot less things that do freak me out as well. Horror movies, they are slightly less horrifying for me. Perhaps the fact that I have seen the horrors of the real world and thus the world of movies are not horrifying enough to really bother me. But that is rather beside the point. Still there are just many times in life where I am far braver than I was and other times where I am a bit more guarded with things. Funny how that does work.

It's the opposite with me thetis. When i was younger i feel scared watching horror movies, specially those zombies. I can imagine them in my room, specially at night. Now that i am older i don't watch horror movies, because i find them amusing already. It's because i realized they are after all, not true anyway.

Ah okay. That is a nice thing finding them amusing. I wish I could be like that so I don't have to suffer changing channels when it gets really scary and try to put it back in when I am relaxed a bit. Haha. Then I get to miss some parts because of that.

I watched horror movie for entertainment only or just killing my time. But I don't take it so seriously although we cannot control our imagination that makes us afraid and paranoid. You should face your fear thetis74 and be entertain in these movies. You can watch it along with your husbands or friends, never with your kids and be entertain. Try it and surely you'll get along with it!
