I heard about the new telecom policy from central government. In that roaming charges with in india is taken away. So all over the country we can travel and use mobiles without roaming charges. The central government, After making so many price hike its the only good thing they have done(going to happen). But i would like to know when will this come into act? How much long should we wait to get away from roaming charges?

Hello Venkit,
It will be really helpful for all Indians if the government can implement this scheme successfully. For customers there may be many advantages, especially those are travellling from state to state. It is not nice to pay for even with telemarketing incoming calls. So we have to be careful on picking the call on roaming.
At present, on roaming I prefer to call back the person if anybody calls me, you know the reason, if we attend the incoming call then both party should pay for the services. If I call back the person then me, myself only have to pay for making the call.
Keep this tip as handy if you travel through states… till the roaming charges cut off by the government.

As we are leaving in democratic country everything here takes time..
Taking this decision by central government is a very good thing. We have to appreciate it.. May be they will apply this soon probably next April...

I am not sure as some were tellign that there would be a premium involved, ie incresing basae fare to accomodate the roaming losses since the telecom lobby is against it.. But if that is not true then nothing like free roaming!! And I think now some providers do given free roaming incoming but when it si just like a loval mobile ,I would be reaaaaaaly delighted..
Also you dont have to worry abt getting a new sim in your hometown if you have deicided to stay there for a month or so..lovely!

If there is going to be some premium pr base fare for it, then its not good.
Telecom companies may show opposition, but that should not be considered, because they are here to make money, but government should make this happen as people of the nation are accepting this with both hands.
