Do you think it necessary for kids to have their own iPads?

Recently I find it popular to use iPad. You can see people everywhere in subway, buses, streets staring at that little screen and enjoying themselves. And now this trends has been widely seen among kids. But do you think it necessary for kids to have their own ipads? In most cases, kids use ipads only to play games or watch cartoons. I thinks there's no need for parents to spend money equiping their kids with ipads. Isn't it better to go out and get in touch with nature instead of playing games in front of that little screen? What do you think of it?

It is never good or in a way very bad to make the normal kids as the gizmo freaks from their childhood itself. The kids have already lost so much that they need to get because of the computers and other electronic devices. There are a hell lot of games that we used to play when we were kids and the kids of today even haven't heard of such a thing is how they react when they hear such names. Feels so bad, don't know really where the kids are going and ending up. maybe, one day even father and mother will be computers which is becoming their life now.

That's what exactly i was trying to tell you. Technologies are good, they bring the world to our finger tips, but at the same time, we should not forget the real fact that they are taking the world away from us or the other way round. Feels really bad. Parents should teach their kids. It is always the same, the world was a much better place to live in when apple and berry was just a fruit..

It upset me a lot when I found this fact several weeks ago during a journey. I am surprised that kids today should spend so much time just playing with a pad! They are actually get in touch with an virtual world. And what's even more upset is that some parents don't even attemp to stop their kids. New techonologies do bring us convenience and more fun. But out society needs more rational thinking. And parents need to think about what is good for their kids.

I think our world right now have too much electronics. I have nothing against it but sometimes it is just too much. Should should go out and not be stuck at home playing games. I just turned 21 but my childhood is way different from today. I still remember going out everyday to play with my friends and just come home for lunch and dinner. So I don't think they need iPads.

I think iPads get popular for some reasons. So there's no need in opposing them. People could get a lot of fun from them. As to kids, parents should encourage them to go out and take part in more outdoor activities. They could also have lots of fun in playing with friends or nature.

hi tessa, I think we still can play with our friends without having to spend time playing games with iPads. We are controlling ourselves, not the little iPads. We can provide an iPad to our children, but we must tell them the benefits of iPad rather than not just for playing games

I think that it really depends upon how old the children are, and what they are using the devices for. My younger brother has one because he has to commute to school and it takes him over an hour on a train each morning. Having an iPad means that he is able to keep himself entertained during this time so that he doesn't get bored on the journey. It's just like any other games console, really. You could spend hours on there if you wanted to, and I see no reason why they shouldn't have one of their own providing they promise to take good care of it.

A pleasant day^_^ For children who are at a rather senior age, it's totally okay for them to own an iPad. As they can have good management of time. Also, having already received years of education, they can make better use of these electronics. But for kids who are going through kindergarden years or primary school, I think there's no point in giving them iPad. Because they are too young to make judegement.

Oh definitely! I think it's better for children to have outdoor activities instead of having their faces crowded upon a tablet. But I do have an ipad. And I do let my children play with it, when I'm not using it. I also would like to make them technologically-adept to what ever is the trend out there. As I think that it would be useful when their out in the world. I just make sure that I manage their time. There's a time for playing it, and there's a time for other physical activities.

Good day. I agree with you that new technologies nowadays should be taken good use of. That can help us know more about the latest trend in the world. But as kids are still too young to make the right judgement, parents should be especially careful when it comes to electronics. It's very easy for kids to get in touch with unhealthy content from the Internet and at the same time, it will do harm to their eyesight. So time management is really of great importance.

I didn't get my iPod until I was 17, I don't have an iPad, but I'll probably eventually get one, but I will not let kids use it when I have kids. There's already so much technology, I think that everyone needs a break from it every once in awhile. I am on my computer all the time, but I'm using it to work and make money.

A pleasant day^_^. I think right now, we are living in a world that new technologies spring up every day. So it's inevitable that kids nowadays get in touch with electronics at an early age. And it's also impractical to stop them from using cell phones or iPads. As long as they are using it with proper guidance, those electronics can have good influence.

I think it is not very necessary to give your kids their own iPads. I know if you have so much money, than you can do everything and give everything to your kids. But i think this is not tell them how to learn. Most of them will use iPad to playing games not for educating.

Good day, friend. I think children are still too young to make judgements. For them, the function of an iPad is just to play games or watch cartoons. An iPad will possibly bring more disadvantages than advantages. And being too addicted may also does harm to health. Parents should really think it twice before they give kids iPads.

Well, an ipad is basically a laptop. I would not get my child an ipad though. I was just watching dr phil and there was a couple on there whose 15 yr old daughter was texting dirty pictures of herself to older guys and sleeping with them. They would ground her from one source of internet and she would find another way to get on and talk to these guys. I limit how much access to the internet my oldest has and I don't plan to let her have access to something like an ipad till she's much older.

Nowadays kids get more familiar with Internet, chances are that they are at the same time, exposed to dirty information. Sometimes we aren't able to solve that problem because the regulations and rules just don't work. So parents play such an important part in getting their kids apart from these dirty information and keep a clean and healthy environment.

I know kids are growing up more computer literate than their parent's generation, but I see that as being no reason they should be given the latest tech object as a plaything...any time I've seen one of them in the hands of a kid,it belonged to one of the parents!

Good day. I also agree that there's no point in giving little kids iPad. Because for them, it's just a toy with higher price. Hardly do they have a sense of preserving it or making good use of it. But as I have read some responses, I think it's okay if children of senior age use an iPad. Having received several years of education, they've already formed their own ways to manage their time. But still, we have to attach great importance to using it properly.

Yes, the iPad becomes much more popular today. However, I don't agree for the children to use it so much. Since it is very addictive to play the games from iPad, even for the adults. And how you can ask your children not to play it so much? It is very difficult for them to do because they are still children. I still think that children in this age shall use more hands. Such as they should use the brushes to paint rather than "paint" in iPad. They should have more outdoor activities, such as running and swimming. It will be good for their health. And they should read more books rather than reading from the iPad as it may not be good for their eyesight. I love China

A pleasant day, youless. New techonology brings us convenience and much more fun. But they could also bring side effects. So it's quite important for people nowadays to use these new technologes in a proper way, especially for parents. Children are at theri early age and they need guidance. Proper guidance can make sure that kids can grow up in a healthy environment. And you have given some nice suggestions for parents^_^

Call me old-fashioned or conservative but I don't think children should have iPads or iPhones or any of these hi-tech gadgets. We survived without them so I don't think it's a necessary item. There are lots of other things they can experience and explore at their age -sports, music etc. I feel that these things are just too expensive for children to have. As my husband and I have discussed, these are things that we won't give our children but that they can have it if they have money to buy it. It's a good way to teach them the value of money and that you have to work hard to get things.

Thank you for your response. I wouldn't call you old-fashioned or conservative of course. Actually there are so many people who share the same idea with you. And they all have special reasons. Especially with the wide spread of new technologies and Internet, kids nowadays are more easily exposed to some negative information. And it also does harm to their health if they spend too much time playing iPads or something else. But since it's almost impossible to stop children from getting in touch with these electronics, we'd better give them proper guidance and help kids make good use of them.

Good day, akangirl. I agree with you that some parents just got the wrong idea. They think it's their way of expressing love to fulfill their kids' demands. But this could do great harm to kids at an early age because they are too young to know what is right or wrong.

I dont have kids yet but I am against all those new electronics. Kids that age should go outside and play with each other, play some sports.

It's kind of heart-broken to find that some kids nowadays don't have childhood. Because they are exposed to Internet at an early age. They would follow exactly what people do on net. That's why I think it's time for them to get in touch with the real world and have fun in playing games and sports.

I have 2 daughters and I will not buy them an iPad. If they want to play a bit, have some fun after school, then they can play with their PS2. I never allowed them to open the net by them self, they have to wait for me after my work to accompany them, or at least checking what sites that they have searched for. I prefer them to go out and play with their bicycles then stay in front of the screen too long.

I totally agree with your ideas. Kids are still too young to tell what is right or wrong. So parents have to teach their kids and give proper guidance. It will be good if they can learn something from the net and at the same time, be kept away from those dirty information. And it's also necessary for them to do enough outdoor activities.

Hi! Evaluate your child first if he is able to use it rightly or if he can handle what he sees in the internet with the use of ipad. There a lot of bad things that may influence your child in the internet. So let us protect the children from all of this.

Good day. You are right that parents have the responsibility to protect their children from getting hurt from those negative influence from Internet. Because some kids are still too young to tell what's right or wrong. So I hope parents nowadays can come up with good ways to help kids make good and right use of these electronics like iPad.

I think that is too much for their age. If the children use devices since they was kids, the devices can affect them. Much better is to be you his "iPad", to hepl to discover the entire world.

Yes, iPad could be a tool to help children discover the entire world indeed. So I think parents play an important role in this process^-^

Education has two schools of thought. If a teacher gives an assignment should the work be done by student all on their own only using class instruction as a guide which is more exercise related or is a student allowed to use internet tools to gather information like is done in the real world. I think ipads are great little tools like a desktop computer is a good tool. I am thinking however of marketing a new product that might sell like hotcakes. It is called the pencil and pad writing tool.

While the iPads are distributing children's spare time. I think they can also use it as a tool to help them discover the world. This is the job that parents need to do^_^
