I was doing an article task and I need to think of an alternative term for cubicle. I searched and these are some of the few definitions that I found:
1. A small compartment, as for work or study.
2. A small sleeping compartment.
No wonder a lot of employees fall asleep during working hours

That's an interesting search result. :) I like it. But seriously it is encouraged in a few countries to have a small nap break of around 20 minutes after lunch. This is supposed to increase the concentration levels and productivity post lunch.
Cheers!

I think that's called "Power Nap" if I'm not mistaken. It's also exercised here in our office but during lunch time. During our lunch break, all lights are turned off and most employees take a nap to re-energize themselves

It only mean that most of the employees are in the job they are not really interested in. Or the job is really boring. Some sleep in free time while some are just plain sleepy type of people. I've read in the net before about a study that taking small nap at work actually helps employees to be more effective/productive in their job because it rejuvenate their body and rest their mind so when they wake up they are more alert and more focus.

That's also true "Power Napping" is sometimes accepted in our workplace as long as it won't hinder with your work.

Good for you in our office we are not allowed to nap inside the office so we really need to keep ourselves busy in order to avoid getting sleepy. Good thing I come across mylot, so everytime I don't have something to do I just browse mylot.

That could be the case. Maybe they are looking for something else other than work to do or more challenging works :P Or the office environment may also cause the sleepy feeling :P

Ok..the meaning define itself (hahaha)
No wonder some employees do sleep at work esp those one having their own cubicle.
No one can see them or noticed they are sleeping...

Haha exactly! my seat mate at work tend to sleep all the time during office hours. What amazes me the most is that he still have his hand over his mouse and he even moves it timely. When I subtly wakes him up, he'd simply look at me and proceed as if nothing happened.

That's really funny. I'm at work, and I feel sleepy, too. I always feel sleepy. And then at the end of the day, when I'm out of the office, suddenly, I feel awake and energetic!

That's just so true! I think the office cold environment has something to do with me being sleepy while working :P It's always too cold inside our office even my jacket isn't sufficient enough to warm me up. I always tend to get sleepy after lunch and same as you, I'm wide awake after office hours. Lol!

My office mate have the same, exact dilemma. He wants to sleep after lunch break but there's no chance for him to do so since his area is the most visible among all areas. People tend to pass his side from all angles so he can't sleep at all Everyone who passes his area tend to greet him too

Tip: The other position is much better. Hang the head over the desk. You can still close your eyes but that way when the forehead hits the desk top the worker wakes up. There is a little delay when the question gets asked, where am i, what, what, but it is a safety device for the supervisor that wants to know what you are presently doing.

And your office mates might have the tendency to check your area right after a resounding "THUNK!" can be heard from your area. Thing is, when people peer in, they can see a red mark on your forehead.

I can relate to the topic LOL. I remember when I was working at a 24 hours food chain in 1997, I slept most of the time from work. I was working at night shift. I guess 5 hours of it was sleeping LOL. My co-worker (a lady), always nag me the next morning because I sleep a lot. So she always leave earlier than we are told to leave. So were even.
I think the reason why we sleep at work is either our working time, were bored or we are just tired of working! LOL

Lol in your case maybe you got real tired from working :D I also experienced working at night shift and no matter how much sleep I get in the morning, I always end up dozing off at around 2am or 3am

Fuuny thing is that I am at work now and I am sleepy. Maybe it's because I woke up early in the morning but the fact that I have nothing to do kills my mood. I am sure that if I had something to do right now I wouldn't be sleepy. On the other hand, I might do something really boring sometimes and it makes me sleepy anyway.
