Studying graphic design

Hello my fellow myLotters... I recently decided that I what to study Graphic design and I started to call local graphic design companies to see if somebody could give me some more information before I just jump into something I don't really know about. After I called like a dozen companies, one guy agreed to meet me for coffee and sit down and explain to me what would be expected of a graphic designer. I immediately fell in love with the idea of being a graphic designer and he actually offered to help me get started and to do freelance work for him as well as approach other companies for freelance work Though I'm artistic and love the idea of what a graphic designer does, I'm still not sure if I should do it. Please tell me what you think
