it has been one of my pet peeves,...every time I go to Starbucks,Dunkin Donuts,Subway and numerous other establishments I notice that there's a TIP JAR sitting next to the cash register...I know that I don't have to give gratuity but It makes me feel obligated to.....I think it's a bit tacky.
what do you think?

Personally I think if the money goes to help benefit those that are serving you, it is a good thing. The problem is most of these places have to split it between all the workers, and many times not all of them deserve the tips. But there was one place that the only way you could tip even the waitress was by the jar when you paid for something. But luckily most the time when I have gone in there there is only one person who I really like working so that makes it easy to want to tip.

McDonalds don't have tip jars, what make other establishments think that they are deserving of gratuity?they get hourly wage and their jobs don't depend on tips.I don't mind tipping those that depends on it just like my job for over 11 yrs and if every customers I had the opportunity serving tipped like I do,I'll be retired by now.
