Are weapons really a tool to maintain peace?

We all know that weapons are used to hurt, kill and destroy. But people also claims that as long as they have superior weapons they can keep maintain peace. That's why weapons should not get into the wrong hands like terrorists, rebels and criminals. But what if there is no weapons? Surely that would minimize the killing and war. So what do you think? Are weapons a tool for war or a tool for maintaining peace?

Weapons are tools for war.
Since the ancient civilizations of Egipt they create different kind of weapons with different purpose hunt, or war.
Weapons can be defined as a tool used to hurt an individual or a group or to threaten or defend.
Apart from their employment in warfare and other combat situations, they are also used for hunting-and-gathering purposes, for the preservation of law and order, for border security, and for the committing of crimes.
Weapons have always played a crucial role in society, moulding and changing the course of history. They have destroyed civilizations and created new ones.

According to me weapons destroy peace in the country. Only friendly talks can create peace in very country.In earlier days weapons are used only in very dangerous situation and is mainly used only for safer protection. But in recent days, weapons are not handled properly. people only misuse weapons for their personal benefits

i think it is not entirely true....
According to Science:
because Cro-Magnon Man cannot fight even by groups...
so they use a booby-trap of a hidden big hole cover-up with long leaves for the Mastodon and Mammoth to fall trap and hitting by a stone and spears made of sharp stones war head.....
According to Religion:
Even Cain killed Abel by using a weapon that can do internal hemorrhage resulting to blood cloths...

Our world has became so evil that weapons have taken the course to create peace. But that is not possible because when you hit on someone for discipline purposes, that person will look for a way to retaliate hence causing a war. I think lasting peace can only be created by word of mouth. Love of humanity too is the best way to avoid wars and destruction.
..anger is the cause of every evil on Earth..

everything is used only in two ways,the good way or the bad way, so weapon can either make peace or make war. a person can use it in good or in bad way. weapons were first made by the people who frist settled here on earth to survive against big animals. and these weapons evolve into what we have now. but now,we are not surviving against animals but against other people.:(

I say no to any kind of weapons. We can make peace without it. If the world is weaponless, there is going to be no war. No one can damage anyone because no one has weapon. If we want to fight, we can use our body but that is tiring. Very tiring.
So instead of fighting, why not peace. Right? ;)

I guess people who consider life as an unworthy thing are the cause of evil in our world. If we live with each other with love for one another, there won't be any trouble. Hatred is the cause of fear which turn into hurting and weaponry, something we can just set aside through love.

Weapons are tools to have wars,is not for peace.The only one can have peace our nations is that people have kind mind,heart,love people not hating,killing,and etc.But since we are in this wicked world we are to face such kind of troubles.It is people who are making wars.
