When I was a tiny boy, people often asked me what was your dream or your wish to be? I spontaneously answered my dream was priest. I have been asked myself what my dream was ? There were a lot of people saying that I had a dream or I had a desire. Perhaps, mylotter can explain what is differences between the two?

I think the dream is something that is obtained in alog time and requires hard work. While the desire is something that you want to get in short time and usually do not require hard work.

Yeah, to make our dream come true need support and hard work as well. I agreed with your comments. I think desires is rather absolute and there is not anything to do to make it a reality. Desires comes from deep within and no such real form like dream. What about the form of dream and desires? I think they are also different either, aren't they ? Thank to join in mylot and have a nice weekend. Happy MyLotting.

In my opinion for me a dream is like a fantasy, a wish, something that is quite far from reality at the time your dreaming about it and most of the time a dream is really something out of reach while a desire is like a goal, an aim wherein you will try your best to reach or achieve that certain thing you desire.

As we can observe all young boys and girls ask their parents or elder about what is their dreams.. as you can say your dreamed to be a Priest. SOmeday you will become a priest coz its your dream. But it will happen if you pursue your dream. There is another meaning of dream and it is a dream at night when we are sleeping. While all i know about desire is what you wish for,,, and longing.

Yes, i am among those who believe that the dream is a picture of pur unconscious desires about something. So in my opinion, your dreams might be true is a hidden desire to become something you are, and trying to take what is in your dreams, i think there is no harm..

If I translate it in my own language there is no difference. It depends on the person who says it. Desire sounds like needing or wanting it more. Dream is a great thought but not that necessary if it comes true, more unreachable. To me there would be no difference. To me it's the same as a wish and it's up to you if you want to make it come true sooner or later or prefer to let it stay that way. As long as we have dreams, wishes, desires live is worth living, it's worth fighting for but what if you reached that dream? Will you find a new one or do you give up on life? Because most of us will get used to our dream as soon as it is reality.

Hi Kitty, I understood what you meant. I used to dream to be a pastor or priest, but I didn't reach it, because I choose to go and attend University which totally was nothing to do achieving my first goal, priest. So, I'm still dreaming then. Now, I am used to it and nearly forget it, because I think I am too old to be a priest and also don't have enough time get to priest school. I'm getting older. Well, anyway, thank you to join in mylot and have a nice weekend. Happy Mylotting Kitty.

A dream is kind of like a desire, except that often it seems out of reach or nearly impossible to achieve. For example, someone can dream of being President one day, and they do desire it as well. But a desire that is not a dream is a more attainable goal, like wanting to be a Senator or a Software Engineer. So dreams are desires, but desires are not always dreams.
