Doctors wanted to abort.

18 months ago, I posted how proud I was of my son and his pregnant wife, because they chose to take a chance on having a baby that was at risk of having Down Syndrome. I am just updating that post. Jordan is 13 months old, and a little truck. BIG boy. He is the apple of his dad's eye, and mommy's joyful boy. Had they chosen to follow the doctor's advice, they would have murdered this little boy.

That's fantastic. So your grandson doesn't actually have Down Syndrome? I wonder if the doctor told your son and his wife the probability involved and if that affected their decision-making. Some parents would just reflexively opt for an abortion after the doctor told them that and never even consider that the prediction might not be accurate. At any rate, it sounds like Jordan's parents were ready to be there for him no matter what condition he was born with...that makes them heroes in my book.

Nope. They were told there was a likelihood he would be born Down Syndrome. The tests were wrong. He is bright and healthy.

They made the right decision. These things are always difficult but I'd choose life (almost) every time. I used to subscribe heavily to "a woman's right to choose" but I think that we have to think about little Fred or Freda Foetus too. Good on Jordan. Apple of Grandpa's eye too by the sound of things.

I think I have always thought about WHO'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE. The sperm donor get's little say in it. The baby gets absolutely no say what so ever. Semantics was the key. If it was a fetus, it became so very clean and less murderous. But if you called it a baby, oh my you would be a butcherous beast for committing infanticide. That by itself sealed the discussion for me. Later I learned of the savage way the little procedure is actually done. I am solidly pro-life now.

Anyone can go wrong in their "Dictum" assured out of their experience!! Everything is subjective. That's why man is unique. No one can measure a person. Though the standard behaviour or the similar beavior permits us to predict, yet everything is subjective. Even when the children are born with Down Syndrome, we have seen the hectic effort of the parents to do anything at any cost to elevate the child, of course it is a great strain when the children behave stubborn but the parents as good educators can raise such children much more better even though the child will not be fully cured. They can educate the child to be self sufficient.

But the doctors were wrong. Very wrong. Aborting a baby "JUST IN CASE" is very wrong. I am glad they chose to have him.

Oh wow this is wonderful news! I am not sure what I would be feeling having been told by a doctor that I should abort. I am not at all for it for me, and would opt for life regardless as well. Thanks so much for giving us the details and so happy you all have a wonderful, happy healthy baby boy!
