What do you think about putting birds in cages. I dont like it bcos I always feel as if they are born to fly freely. But people put them in cage and feel proud and happy having them at home. Do you think this as healthy habit? What do you feel?

The only time I would feel like it's completely appropriate to put a bird in a cage, is if they were injured and weren't able to fly, and needed the help of humans. I also can see how people rescue a lot of birds from pet stores, because I'm sure the bird would much rather have his own cage rather than be in a noisy pet store more than likely being neglected. I guess it really depends on the situation. Under no circumstances do I think it's okay to catch a free bird and cage it for your own enjoyment. No matter how good you treat them, they were born to roam free!

Yes, but when a bird is raised in a cage from birth, would they even know what to do when they were set free? It may be doing them an injustice because they don't have the same instincts as a bird who was raised in the wild. If it has been confined to a cage all it's life, it may not know how to fend for itself on it's own.

I have traveled to Australia and seen the wild birds. In Pittwater Nation Park I saw some white cockatoos. I saw lots of rainbow lorikeets in Queensland. I saw some galahs playing at a children's slide in Western Australia. My favorite is the Port Lincoln parakeet. It is also called the Twenty Eight bird. Today I saw at a garden center a galah in a cage. Next to her I saw a cockatoo. They both had prices of over £1600. I prefer to see wild birds than keep them in cages.
I have pet budgies when I was a child and I let them out to enjoy a fly in the lounge. When I was a teenager my mom had an American friend which moved back home. She gave my mom four rabbits and a pet parrot. He was a white fronted Amazon. He lived from 1987 until 2008 and was a very much loved family pet. I have two pet dogs now and they live in my home. They go out for walks. I wouldn't get anymore caged birds. I prefer seeing wild birds.
