We have a 1 y/o chihuahua and all he wants to do is lick us. We cant get him to stop. I know that he loves us unconditionally and he is the best little dog ever, but its getting a little to over the top with licking us. We couldnt have asked for a better dog. We just want him to stop licking all the time.

Perhaps you should wash the areas he licks more often, dogs often smell food from even hours before you interact with each other. Other times a dog will lick you to ingest the salt your body sweats out because it again smells like food.

Hi bearphotos ..I was never allowed to have a dog growing up because my Mom thought they were too much work and too dirty and carried diseases..lol..
I have heard that dogs mouths are cleaner than peoples but I don't really think that I would want a constant licker either..I hope someone can give some suggestions on how to tone down this habit since I can't think of any..you don't want to totally discourage it so I don't know how you could modify the behavior...good luck
