dvd software help... / myLot

do anyone know any dvd maker software? i only want tried and tested. What i want is a software which can burn and shrink/compressed downloaded video files (avi or any files but i prefer avi). My largest dvd capicity is 8.5gig. Whether be paid or free i want the name pls?

Nero is a tried and tested one, has been in the market for decades now. That's what we are using since I was in college, my first job and all other jobs I have been to ^^
