Do you listen to music recommendations?

I love finding new music but I am terrible about not listening to suggestions people offer me. I worry that I won't like what they are suggesting to me and that will hurt their feelings. After all, they must really like it if they are recommending it to me so I should like it as well. And the more I have in common with someone, musically, the more I will avoid their suggestions. Maybe this is just me.

Don't feel bad to express your opinion!! Take in all suggestions and listen to them. I used to be like you but now that I've opened up I've found some GREAT music.

Not always. I only listen to music recommendations when it comes from someone who I know listens to the same type of music like me. Sometimes also from my girl.

I have a very close friend. We talk music all the time. We are completely honest with each other so whenever he suggests an artist I will listen. Most of the time I like it but when I don't , I just tell him so and it is ok. At least I tried. The same goes for him and the music I suggest to him. sometimes he doesn't like it as much as I but that is ok. At least he tried it. I think it is worse to say , I won't like it when it comes to music. Art is different from food. With food I say No I won't like it. But Art, music? It Must be tried. it can really touch you. But it is doesn't , it isn't the end of the world. So if it is a close friend, tell they your feelings and see how they react. Most likely they will not be offended if you don't like the music. I hope you try it. Take Care.

Yes ofcourse, otherwise how i get to know the latest comings. While chit-chat with friends, or maybe T.V, or internet i get the recommendations. I have a blip.fm account. When someone suggest me a new music album or a song, i listen to it once, if its not at all in my taste i will reject it in the first few seconds itself. I might skip a few seconds to see if the music is similar all over the song and decide to stop listening or not

I do listen to recommendations, though I've noticed that my friends and I don't talk as much about music as we used to. This is the only way I discover new music (or older music that I didn't know about), because at the moment I haven't the time to look for it on my own. I'm lucky that me and (some of) my friends have very similar tastes. I never got a recommendation that I absolutely hated. It's true that I don't like some of them, but I'd at least label them as 'interesting'. And, who knows, I may be missing on something really exciting if I don't listen.
