Most of us cannot afford to quit full time job even if we can make some money online.
For most of us, online income is very little, but very pleasant to have.
Let us suppose that you can make enough online to survive, would you quit working full time?

You need to earn same sum as you earn now with your full time job or a little more. than you can quit your full time job. I would say if I will consistantly and secure earn 1500 - 2000 $ per month I will quit my job. But this is imposible to earn online, as I have experiences till now.

I believe in order to make a lot of money you have to put a nice amount into it.

Hi Serginho, it is more accurate to say that it is impossible for us to earn two thousand dollars per month online.
Some people can make it, but we are not one of them.
I think I can quit my full time job forever, if I can get half of my full time income from online sources.
After all, we spend less when we work at home.
We do not need to buy new clothing or handbag or shoes when we work online at home.
We can save on transportation to and fro too.
The only thing is that we will spend more on electricity and internet bill.

Say, if i can earn around 2000$ per month , i would definitely quit my full time job. There is a flexibility component in this way. I haven't explored the full potential of earning online yet. Soon i am planning for it though.

Hi Mi6jamesbond007, same here, I would quit my job if I can make at least two thousand dollars online.
It is better if the money is passive income.
That means I can go for a long holiday, and still enjoy the money in the bank.
No point having all the income as active income.
That means if I get sick, I will not get paid for the few days.
In this case, I rather work full time, and keep online earning sessions as part time income sources.

hello scheng, greetings.First of all i am not earning as i am retired. However hypothetically speaking if i were working i don`t think that i would rely too much on online earnings as i very well know that its not possible to earn well since most sites are scams.Unless one joins a legal company that enables me to work full time from home so that i can earn as much as a regular office job.Working from home would be hassle free as i could work on my own terms and hours and besides saving time and money on to and fro commuting.

Hi Veejay, actually there are more legitimate sites that allow you to earn, but you will not have all the time to spend on so many sites.
The established sites are producing good income for many people.
Just too bad that some of the best sites are paying only US residents and taxpayers.
For example, Textbroker pays relatively well for ghostwriters, but it is not opened to writers from outside US.

if you are interested in writing good educational articles, do join bright hub which pays 15 $/ article now. you have to do research properly and submit a good piece first based on their topics. there is a legal agreement also.

After reading the responses above, I also feel that a sum of around $2000 would make my day, er... I mean my month. According to the current currency exchange, that amount would be Rs. 90,000. But that would be too high to aim at. To start of even $1000 would be fine. But it is really really difficult to reach that figure. However, if you have good online jobs at any freelancer sites, then you can certainly proceed in that direction.
If you have any killer site, then also you can make that much amount quite easily. I have known some people, who are making more than $3000 per month on a regular basis with their web site. However, I have only seen their site so I can say that. But the efforts are really worth it.

Hello Scheng1,
if you are the one who is not being able to earn from Associated Content, then take heart because we both are sailing in the same boat. Even I am not able to earn anything from there. I am from India and the site is definitely not for Indian writers. Where are you from by the way?
I have heard about Experts Column. But I am really skeptical about going for any new site at the moment. I already have accounts on some sites and registering for a new site means that I will have to write something different for that. It is better I think to continue with what I have been.
I have been a member of Shvoong for more than 4 years now. But the payments are too slow. I have written 80 summaries there. But I am still far away from payments. The site also shares a very disappointing share of 10% with the writers. It is probably because the writing is not totally creative and we just need to summarize things. That may be the reason why the payments are low. But I don't know what to do with those 80 articles. I can't even use them anywhere else. Rewriting them one by one is an option that I have. But at what cost? It will take a lot of time to rewrite them all. Even if I rewrite one daily, I will need 80 days.

Hi abhi, yes, there are some writers in Associated Content who make more than $1,500 from page view bonus.
Unfortunately I am not one of them.
Anyway we cannot join Associated Content, so that does not really apply to us.
A site that is very similar to Associated Content is Experts Column, which pays $1.50 per 1000 page views.
If you write one article per day for the next two years, you can create a long time passive income.
Even if you stop writing after two years, you will still get paid from the existing content.
Just hope that the website is still around to pay you!

Well, if your a novice in online jobs. You should not quit your jobs instead make it only an additional income in what you earn in your current jobs. But if you learn the process and you know you can make more than what you get in your offline jobs. That's maybe the time to quit...because you can have your time and no boss to dictate in what your doing about...
My friends, of mind earn a thousand a month in her online earnings. She is a member of a gdi where she earn a good living and now have a website where she got a hundred every month...
I want to try what she teach me but still have no fund to go for it...Still have not enough earnings online but I will say this good for me. Because earning a hundreds is good enough...

Hi Aerous, in this case, you better have a separate bank account.
If not, you will spend all the money on yourself or your children, and there is nothing left for your future business.
I think the cost of living is still low in your country compared to the rest of the world.
A dollar earned online is worth more in your country than my country.

Hi Aerous, I think you can save up whatever you have earned online, so that you can use money from full time employment for living expenses, and online earnings for investing.
Mylot is not that good as a money making tool, but it is fun.
While article writing earns much better in the long term, it takes a very long time to reach a stage where you can earn without writing anything.
I think you can aim for the monthly ten dollars here, while checking out other ways to earn.

Hi Scheng, i think i haven't found enough earning through online, to be able to quit earning from my other offline source. I think i will need to search more online opportunities and earn around $1,000 to be able to quit completely from my offline part-time job. At this moment, i am still very far behind from earning my dream income figure through online. But, i never stop searching for more earning opportunities through online. We should always look forward and think positive, i am sure one day we will be able to achieve our wishes.

Hi Myfb, just too bad you stay in the city instead of smaller towns.
If you have stayed in Batu Pahat or other smaller towns, I think you can get by with earning $800 per month online.
After all, the cost of living is lower there.
The food is slightly cheaper, the housing is much cheaper!
If you need $1000 for quitting full time job, I need double the amount.
The exchange rate works better for you than for me.
I think I really have to move to Malaysia when I retire.
Otherwise my money might not last very long.

There are many people searching online for making money online and i should say that around 90% of these beginners will be a big failure as in most cases they will not even make a dollar and this has happened to me also when is started it all and i am proud to say that this site-MYlot is the one which made me believe that one can make money online after i got scammed by many sites as i lost not only money but all my precious time which got wasted by working in those sites. But later on i got experience and started concentrating only on legit sites. Now, i get around $200 on monthly basis, but still not satisfied as my first aim is at $500 and then $1500 per month which is not far away for sure

Hi Alienstar, yes, many people fail to make a single cent online.
I think these are the ones who look for easy way out, and do not want to put in effort on legit sites.
If they have worked honestly, they would have made a few hundred dollars too.
Even if they were to start off slow and steady, making ten dollars a month is possible.
I think many people fail because they are lazy, greedy and just not interested to know the right way.

I won't quit my full time job. I've tried focusing on online earnings alone before but it failed. I don't want to make the same mistake again. I love my current work. I think I won't last working at home because I enjoy being and interacting with other people, I mean personal interaction and not online through phone, chat, or e-mail. Also the health card from our company is pretty decent. It covered my check-ups when I was pregnant and now it covers my son's check-ups with his pediatrician. Dental and other stuffs are also included for me, my husband and my son.

Hi Brew2x, I think many people cannot work at home too.
They will go mad with loneliness even if they can work at home, and make a good living.
Some companies offer the employees a chance to work from home a few days out of a month.
But the take up rate is rather low.
Most people find working at home too distracting.
After all, we tend to relax when we are at home, and want to keep work away from our home.
I think if we can get a passive income of a few thousand dollars, then we can really retire from our full time work.
Other than that, working full time is still the main way of making a living.

Hello Scheng1,
wouldn't that be nice If one could really quit your full time job... All the stress , and hard work. It would be nice if one could only work part time , and do online job part time! To quit my actual job I would have to make the same amount, and also would have to trust what I am doing , and see proof of an income for at least a few months! One can make money working online , but you have to be smart about it , and from what I have found out put money into it!

Hi Metschica, yes, that is very true.
A month of good money online is no guarantee that we can continue making the same amount.
I think if we have the time to afford having both income, that is even better.
That means we can live on our full time income while saving our income from online activities.
Maybe we can pay off our mortgage, and become debt free, and ultimately rich.
Just wishful dream at the moment.
I guess most of us do not make enough even to pay for the internet bill, and utility bills.

I think that will be different for everybody. Some people might think that earning $1000 a month will be enough to quit their full time job. and some people might think that $500 a month will be enough to quit their full time job. For me, if my online earning can cover my daily expenses, and cover all my daily necessity and on top of that, it can let me have enough saving for my old age. I think that will be enough for me to quit my full time job.

Hi Yspmyl, obviously that depends on the standard of living.
I would like to know how much a person can live on in his country, that is why I started this discussion.
I think for those in developed countries, even a thousand dollars per month is too low.
After all, the company pays for medical when we are working, but once when we are onl our own, we have to pay all the medical costs.

Hi Damned_dle, it is good to live in a place with lower cost of living.
over here, even the factory operator with no education gets about a thousand dollars per month.
With overtime, they would have commanded more than a thousand and five hundred dollars.
Even that amount is too low to support a family.
I think I will need at least two thousand dollars per month before quitting a job.
Maybe you can aim to reach six hundred dollars online.

I would need to be making above minimum wage, which is around eight dollars an hour. I could maybe settle for exactly minimum wage since I'd be sitting on my butt all day making the money...But most online jobs don't pay out that well unless you put in an extreme amount of effort...And in that case, I'd rather just go and find a full time job in the real world where I would make the same amount of money, if not more, and be able to get out and socialize as well. Being able to make money at home is great, but there would come a point where you'd miss social interaction I think.

Hi Lilblondiemjd, actually in many countries, there is no such thing as minimum wage!
For us in Singapore, there are many foreign workers working at a miserable rate of just fourteen dollars per day, not per hour.
That is lower than even two dollars per hour.
If we convert to US dollar, that is about eleven dollars for a full day of hard work under the hot sun.
I think even if I can make such amount online, I cannot survive on it.
The foreign workers have the benefits of living in a dormitory provided by the employers, and they even get to enjoy free meals and transport.
For us, we still have to pay mortgage and other bills.
I need at least two thousand dollars before quitting full time job forever.

I wish i can earn atleast $1,000 per month LOL. right now my goal is $200 a month pretty low for making a living but with something people starts. I think the only way to earn that much is through an online business or dedicating/focusing into a site that can earn you a lot and you can rely on.
@scheng1 (24649)

Hi Hazelme, even $200 a month is a very high goal for many people.
Most people are just making ten dollars or fifty dollars per month.
But then, most of us are doing it in our leisure hours, and we still have our full time job to help pay the bill.
I think even if we make just a few cents online, that is way better than others who just surf for fun, and wasting time and energy.

Hi LoriRuri, if your business is paying for bills, then your online income is really an extra.
Might as well use it in investments, so that you can gain more passive income, and with that, a possibility of retiring early.
I think having extra money is always good.
Even a humble $10 a month from mylot is better than nothing at all.

I am earning online, but it is not enough for me to think about quitting my day job. I am doing it just for fun and on the sideline. So if you ask me if I would concentrate on earning online and leave my day job, then my answer would be no. Earning online to be able to quite a full time job, requires knowledge not only on computers but as well as on different ways of earning. I lack this things. I do have a friend who earns his living online and when I say earns his living, its good enough so and so that his earnings online are more than enough to support his basic needs as well as his family. In fact I learned some ways of earning online from him. This is the reason why, he does not work on a day job.. But he does work online full time giving him a great earning opportunity.

Hi Jpso, it is good of your friend to share his knowledge with you.
Maybe you lack his skills and expertise, and you can only earn a fraction of what he is currently making.
I think your friend is really smart.
If he can succeed online, he can succeed in every business that he is interested in.
Just hope that he can teach you more, so that you can increase your income.
As long as you enjoy your work, and have money from different sources, you do not need to fear recession.

Hi Pibi, yes, it is not advisable for a fresh young graduate to earn online, since you will find it hard to find job later on.
Maybe when you are nearer retirement, or need time to spend with your kids, and you have paid off mortgage and other debts, then you can afford to quit full time job, and just stay home making money online.
But then again, that depends on the cost of living in your country.
