Last Saturday, we brought our daughter to the pediatrician who is well known in our area as a specialist in respiratory disorder. Our 1 year old daughter was diagnosed to have allergic rhinitis. The doctor showed me the swelling of the walls of her nose. So it was the reason our baby seems to snore when sleeping at night.
She was given drixine drops and antihistamine.
Does anyone of you suffers from allergic rhinitis? How do you deal with it?

I have a brother who have allergic rhinitis too ever since he was a teenager and he's still suffering from it every once in a while I think it will be wih him forever you just need to observe and try to know all the possible things like certain foods, or in my brother's case house dust and pollen, that trigger the allergic so you could avoid those things. And always have the medicine ready. My bother is taking claritin for his allergic try to search about that. Good luck hope your daughter will be ok.

hello there fellow mylotter.Claritin seems to have become more popular in controlling an allergy than Diphenhydramine does. Diphenhydramine makes you drowsy that is why it is less used compared to claritin.i still use diphenhydramine because it is cheaper and has been successful in controlling my allergy. i don't have concerns with drowsiness anyway.

hello there.my mother also suffers from that type of allergic disorder. sometimes, i also have bouts of allergic attacks during early in the morning.what i do is that i usually wear disposable masks upon rising up in the morning because that is usually the time of the day that the attack occurs.also, i wear mask when cleaning my room to protect from dust inhalation.Diphenhydramine is also my first aid medication when it comes to severe attacks.

I agree wearing mask is a really good protection when you have allergies, but when it comes to younger kids especially babies be careful when you use mask it could possibly suffocate them. Another thing that can help is working out in the morning just some stretching and few minutes of walking helps because allergies usually attacks when your immnune system is weaker and morning excercise is a good way too have good blood circulation that help strengthen our immune system by distributing enough oxygen in the body.`

i have had that for years, although apparently i am no longer allergic to anything (so the allergy test said). she is a little to young but those nasal strips work great, they open the passages of your nose. i have had surgery done a couple of times to scrap the cartlidge (sounds gross and only worked for a short period of time.)

Allergic rhinitis is commonly cold nasal allergy. It is very common form of allergy. It can be triggered with dust, pollens, strong odors and even perfumes. It is advisable to only have hypo0allergenic and non-perfumed products for your baby. The best thing you do is to prevent triggers.

hello there. good thing you mentioned about avoiding triggers. having an allergy really is a nuisance.it's like you are being robbed of your most memorable moments when the attack occurs.the worst thing is that when it attacks during your business meetings.

I don't have that. But I've heard of that. Just let your child take the medicine as what is prescribed. Try to keep your home as clean as possible. Don't let the child always go to dusty places.

Of course, babies need medical attention and doctors advice for proper medication. For adults still the best way is to ask doctors advice, dont take medicines without prescription for it might worsen the situation plus dont take for granted simple colds, or coughs cause it might lead to serious illness.

I think the doctor did just right prescribing antihistamine for allergic rhinitis to reduce reactions due to sensitivity. My eldest son use to have that condition when he was tiny so we saw to it that the room he was in was well vacumed and free from dust and suspected allergens. We changed all the curtains and linens and cleaned the filter of the air-conditioner. I pray your child would get well as soon as possible, I know how difficult a situation like that could be, we use to take turns with my wife watching over our son especially at night.
