Three Hours of Sleep

Today I am at work after getting only three hours of sleep last night. Yesterday I worked 18 hours straight. I wnet to my regular job which starts at 4:30AM and I got off at 1:30PM. After that I immediately went to organize the venue of an 18th Birthday party and put up decorations and other things. At 7pm I also was the host of the same event that lasted until 11:30PM. I went to bed, exhausted, at 12:30 Am and got up, exhausted at 3:30 to make it to my 4:30AM job. I am trying to keep my eyes open and avoid making any mistakes. Do you ever go to work or school with little or no sleep at all? Did you ever make a mistake because of sleepiness?

With what you have shared, it seemed like you are beating yourself up too much. I do hope that you get compensated enough with all the things that you have been doing. Most people would have more time spent on work than time being spent with family and rest. Quite a routine that they get into and just accept so it seems. Along with that, the natural caffeine from coffee doesn't help them anymore so they get to drink those energy drinks that comes in different brand names just to get them through the long hours of working. I have done that before and fortunately, I had something that helped me get enough energy. It wasn't something that I had to eat or drink, I only had to wear it and I was able to do what I needed to do with ease.

Thanks for the concern, it's not usually like this. I was supposed to take a vacation leave the day of the 18th Birthday party but it was disapproved. So I had to go to the office then go to the party. I live away from family so yes, we spend a little time and most of my time is devoted to work, and sleep. I am a drinker of energy drinks, but only occasionally. I wonder what it is that you wore?

You mean you already got approved with the vacation leave and then suddenly, you got informed that it got cancelled or like it was they changed their minds and took their promise back from you? I'd be mostly disappointed if that happened. So you usually get to see your family how often in a month? Hopefully most of the day offs that you really get.. They are actually available in the market these days. Some come in very well known but pricey brands. There are those however that are not commercially seen yet, would provide, if not the same, better effects.

Nope the vacation leave was not approved. I was confident it would be but my company is an attendance Nazi and I was absent for two days the previous month for being sick so no leaves for me until the next trimester. I get to take a leave again in November. I don't see my family often, just on special occasions. My mom comes over every once in a while. I used to come over her place but now I have this aunt who hates me with a passion (and that's another story) so I generally avoid going there. So what is it exactly? A bracelet?

Oh, I have done this things when i am still young. When we are young , we tend to abuse our body. You are working so hard and wonder if you really need to. Why not have some rest and recharge those tired eyes and body. Have some break and enjoy life.!

Thanks for the advice, my schedule is not always like this. I have two jobs, one weekday job and one weekend job and I don't work on all weekends, maybe just twice a month. On weekends and I work on events and this event just happened to be on a mMonday so I had to work straight.

Oh yes I remember when I was working offline and the steepness nights that would kick in and cause me to mumble my words. I did this while working a third shift and then having only about an hour of sleep before my son had to be picked up from school. It was so bad I fell asleep driving one day. If it were not for my son who woke me up I was heading straight on to a big van. Hopefully you can catch up soon with sleep as that does sound like way too little for you. I remember being awake 3 days straight and falling asleep while I was talking once as well. lol

Oh good thing you avoided an accident. It is really very dangerous to drive when sleep-deprived. How's your work schedule now? Do you just work online now? I am fine now as I don't normally have events on weekdays. I have a regular 8 hour job and on weekends I work on events such as weddings and birthdays. It's just that this birthday party was on a Monday night.

Yes, I am taking advantage of breaks to take a nap. However, I still feel terrible, like I am about to get sick.

It a little bit shocked me by hearing your story for the only three hours sleep. I didn't have this kind of experience but I still feel sleepy here at my office desk and even couldn't keep my eyes open, then i have to drink a lot of water, keep the water in my mouth. *lol* Wish the time could fly fast then you could get off work and get more sleep.

I must say that's a funny way to keep yourself awake! I'll try that some other time. My schedule is not normally like this, it's just that after my regular 8-hour job I had an event to organize and host. Events such as birthdays and weddings are usually held on weekends, but this one was held on a Monday night.
