Hello everyone I just started my account today. I want to make money as a tutor. I have thought about this for quite some time. Tutoring online versus offline. I'm still weighing my options here. I still can't decide what to charge, though. I have looked into several tutoring companies online and so far the best option is Wyzant.
These questions goes out to the tutors. What tutoring agency do you work for? How long have you been tutoring? What do you like about your job? How did you decide your pricing on the service? I also know that most companies want tutors to run a check on themselves, I really want to but I don't want to pay a lot for it.
Only serious comments will be looked at. Thank you

I don't know what subject(s) you want to tutor. I have taught many children for O and A level subjects in their homes. I don't think online work is possible. Parents want to see your results and your methods. I've had many a mother hiding in the kitchen, listening to me teach.
I have no idea what the present rates would be.

Thank you for your comment, by the way online work is possible some students like the conviences of being tutored online so they don't have to worry about leaving their homes. I want to tutor math specifically, basic math, trig, algebra-(middle school-college), pre-algebra, and basic stats. "Parents hiding in the kitchen while listening to me teach." LOL

Hi
why don't you create a website and post your video tutorials on line. you can learn to make a video tutorial quite easily. Create your own tutorial site and promote it. Lots of people are beginning to do that. To get your on line academy going you offer to let them access a few of your videos for free. You need to pick up a few web skills, that sall. If you want a free e-book on how to crete a website I can help ypou, if you pm me...

I am not a good teacher, and to be honest, I don't tutor. Maybe I am not knowledgeable enough to pass on my knowledge to another person. I should learn more and practice more. I just not enough for myself, and I always think that I am not good enough on everything. I should do more, and learn more to patch my void in my brain.
