Filipinos are said to be fond of singing. Give them a mike and they would sing, whatever they like to sing.
Parties would always be videoke singing, after eating. One cannot resist the microphone when it’s passed to you. I would always end up singing my one favorite piece “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, by FRanke Valle, when it’s my turn to sing.
At home , in our bedroom , specially when our daughter is home for the school vacation, we would sometimes sing the videoke too. My husband and I would also sing and sometimes do a duet.
But most of the time, it’s our daughter that we let sing, because she has a nice voice and good at singing.

I still remember the first thing I purchased with my own money was a second hand karaoke machine (2,000 pesos)back in the 80's .tom jones, engelbert, slow rock are my favorites back then.....how time flies.
I dare not sing a frank sinatra song(my way) whenever I go back to the Philippines for fearing of getting shot right between my eyes.

yes jojo, back in the 80's it's still karaoke. And it's still cheap at 2k at that time. But now it's videoke already. So, are you joking when you say that you dare not sing My Way.
enelym, Luka was that one . . his name was luka . . . ?

Nice to hear that you are a fan of Michael Jackson songs. I am a fan too of Michael Jackson, though i find his songs hard to sing. But maybe if i will always practice them, i might get good in singing them also. Though i can sing a bit of his Rock With You.
It's really nice to be able to sing a lot of songs. I guess, on rest days i better practice on our videoke in our bedroom.

Dear friend,
Singing with enjoyment really gives a large amount of relaxation and enjoyment. I love to dance while the those songs are heard especailly during concerts. At home I do keep it lightly. Moreover I hope there are lots of bands fo Filipinos. Here in India, I could see there are varieties of singers mixed with, may be whole lots of many styles. Shri.A.R.Rehaman one of living legent of Indian music recently received the Oscar that was mainly for hollywood movies. I wish to be a part of live music concert of Filipinos...

Yes, not only are Filipinos fond of singing the videoke, even if they don't have a nice voice. It's their way of relaxation indeed.
In addition, we are also fond of concerts, as evidenced by the constant concerts being held by singers from abroad. What is nice though, is when they are here they also get Filipino background dancers and back-up singers. They also get other Filipino singers too.
David Foster together with other foreign singers and our own Charice Pempengco, will be having their concert within the month. Tickets are nearly sold out. It only shows Filipinos' love for concerts in addition to their own singing.

Filipinos are truly indeed fond of singing.
that activity is never missed whenever there are gatherings or even just the ordinary days when we feel like singing.
this fondness would also somehow show how jolly Filipinos are.
sometimes we just sing our hearts out blessed with good voice or not we all sing.
but sometimes the ones who are not so blessed have the guts to sing out loud.
in our family Simplyd it is somehow a race on who gets the microphone.
everybody loves to sing so we race who gets the mic first and he/she gets to sing 1 whole cd of his/her choice.

Correct, shanemae!
Filipinos are so fond of singing along with a videoke specially. The moment they get hold of a microphone, they will surely sing to their hearts' content. They would only stop, if someone would beg to give them the chance to sing also.

What is good with the videoke singing in the party, is that you get to set aside your inhibition. It doesn't matter if your voice is not good, as long as you get to participate in the singing.

I love singing too, but lately we don't get to use the videoke. And I'm so shy to just sing on any party. I usually sing when I am comfortable with the people I am with or in the house only That's too sad, sometimes when I try to sing in party I lose my voice and I don't really know why I don't have the normal voice I am in a friend's party...
But my favorite song in videoke is Never Been To Me

I love to sing but its seem singing don't love me back. lols. every time I sing usually sing up to five songs in a night only. No more than that. Because I'm afraid does who went to the party will go home because they thought theirs a riot going on. lols.

Oh i know how to sing that too, my friend. It's a nice song indeed.
maybe you get a bit nervous when with friends. So that explains why you lose your voice when you try to sing in a party. Usually, when i made to sing another one, i would opt for a a bit fast one. That way, my voice even if it's not good will not be emphasized.

You made me laugh with your remarks.
Actually, i am also shy to sing in parties. I really will not sing if others not as good as me in singing will not sing. Hearing them sing give me the confidence that if they can sing, why can't i.

My stepdaughter-in-law is Filipino - she hates to sing! But - I have seen lots of videos on youtube of some great covers sung by Filipino singers. I was especially impressed with a Filipino folk singer from a bit back - possibly sixties? - who covered some of my favorite folk songs - Including an Old Peter, Paul and Mary favorite "Gone the Rainbow".

I guess, there are really some people who hates singing, specially when in a party. But maybe when they get drunk, they will have the courage to do so.
Yes my friend, there are a lot of very good Filipino singers. Most of them practices their singing through the videoke.
