That's it for another year. Finally, all our grapes are picked. And just in time too as last night the heavens opened and it poured with rain. It's why you won't have seen me on myLot for a while. I've been busily working with my little snippers and a bucket, hauling buckets and buckets of grapes back to be squished and fermented and turned into the most delicious ruby red wine. It's jolly hard work, but it's a time of year I really enjoy. The weather is normally lovely and being outside in the sun, listening to your own thoughts or chatting with your fellow pickers is just wonderful. All that hard work should result in around 800 litres of red wine, plus various other drinks in smaller quantities. Have you ever been grape picking? Have you tried making your own wine?

No and No. The only real picking I ever do is apple picking, and I don't pick much at $0.89 a pound. We picked about half a baggie full the other day which cost me $6. Certainly cheaper than buying from the store, and more fun too. Another family who was at the orchard at the same time picked about $70 worth of apples!!
