Do you have a web site? How important is a website for an online career?

I created a one page website recently and was amazed to know that it could be done in a few hours. I took a few days because I am new to this stuff. But I realized that a lot of people are keen to create their websites but do not know how to do it. I feel if you have a good teacher this can be learnt quite easily. Well, what I have done is to offer an e-book for free which goes into the entire web site creation process, step by step.
Do you think if you knew how to create a website you would still be blogging or visiting forums? How important is a website for a career on line?

i am somehow agree with you , but not 100% ,because i personally know some people who made over $300 per month without having own website even without blog..so it is not important that you have a site or not. the important thing is that how efficiently you use your time ..online ..because the time is the key ..mind it for ever..i mean for a example suppose A earns ...$100 by works daily 5 hour ...and B earns $10 by works just 10 or 15 min now decide who is more successful...thanks for asking

You are right,a website is not compulsory but you can compare it to a own house vs rented house. You can live in a rented house but a own house is incomparable.I hope, you see the point I am trying to make here.
I see the world wide web as an online real estate site and I would prefer to own my site rather than exist in someone else's domain.
