Do you think the new Powerplay rules have changed anything?

As per the new rules Powerplay can only be taken from overs 15-40. So now invariably the bowling powerplay has moved from overs 11-15 to overs 16-20. The batting powerplay is again taken by the batting team between the overs 36-40. In all the matches in the three series that is currently ongoing, each team has followed the same strategy. I am not sure this has really added any value to the game. I still prefer leaving the powerplays in the hands of the captains to play with. What is your opinion? Cheers! Ram

Powerplay is a period when you can have only three players outside the 30 yard circle. Each team has one powerplay, the bowling and batting powerplay. They now need to take it between overs 16-40. Previously this could be taken anywhere between 11-50. Cheers! Ram

now India is 238/7 in 48.3 overs. I think we will cross 260 runs or 250 runs.

from the time when power play rules came to action the players are not experimenting enough. most of the time just after 10th over bowling power play is been called to restrict the flying start, on the other hand batting power play often called as late as possible between 45-50 over to get more runs. The new rules will add interest to the game, now they got to play and discuss where and when to use the power play, captaincy is adding much responsibility. At the mean time, cricket is been watched first 15 overs and last 5 overs so the new rules will definitely adjust this sort of mentality of the spectators.

I think you are right. At least the bowling Powerplay has not really been experimented with too much. The batting Powerplay is something that teams have experimented with at times, but not the bowling powerplay. Cheers! Ram

this rule is not much effective but this helps batsman to score more because mostly batting power play taken between 35-40 overs and last 15 overs batting team score good it also help bowlers because bowlers take more wickets in batting power play and stop runs in next 10 overs.

Yes, but then previously adventurous captains used to take it in the 35-40, while others used to take it from 45-50. So there was a difference between attacking captains and others. But now all of them are in the same boat. Cheers! Ram

Today the pattern changed a bit. Dhoni took the second powerplay in the 23rd over. But really nothing much changed with this rule. Cheers! Ram
