the president of the Philippines planned an all out war in Mindanao against Abusayaff to the rebels in Mindanao. what do you think? is this the best solution to solve the problem in Mindanao?

That strategy is always words of the past President. But what happen Abu Sayyaf is at large...because they cuddling by MILF. If you go to pursue them...they enter in the perimeter where peace agreement prohibit any forces of the government break the line... Nothing happen whatever the government forces can do. Because there own enemy is with the government...and MILF. The solution in that decade of war is to eliminate all the high ranking in the government and high ranking in the MILF...to stop those bark to fight again. If there is no leader I don't think there is still command them to do atrocities...

Peace in mindanao area is not what the government can do but the people's will most especially those called MILF. If they really want peace in Mindanao there is no need to talk and negotiate what other party wants on that place... If you want peace...okay we stop atrocities and make life better to face the future our families and loves one that's it...no more exchange of words. A kind discipline will be enforce to attain peace not the uprising of arms and fight. Because every one who killed...the other side revenge. So what we expect to on that negotiation? Yup! I know if those leader killed there is still another leader to fight. But I think our Brother and fellow filipino muslim will resolve the peace issue in Mindanao. If they really want peace in there. No need to negotiate stop at once and tell to their fellow muslim...stop the fight and live with peace and development that's it...right?

Well said aerous! I'm with you to think (sometimes) that any peace talks won't do any good if our government is just the one who really wants to pursue it the way it should be done, and them (MILF, Abu Sayyaf), being a real bandits who'll do terrorism inspite of the on-going agreement will deny that they're the one who takes responsibility doing such a devastation. How dare them for being unjust and outlaw! They're so desperado that they'll do anything and everything to get what they want at all cost! And onething I'm shocked about to where I've found out in the news is that the MILF has their "stay zone" in the region that no military troops are allowed to trespass unless permitted by their (MILF) leaders. Whooah! A controlled area in the region by the crooks! On the contrary, what if the rebel leaders come to their end? Are we sure there's no new rebellious blood to follow the path they are into? Well, that's been the debate issue way-way back and it's kinda scary to think there is!

this is very difficult to solve because of their temporary perimeter zone which is unquestionable. their own perimeter in in conflict in the 1987 philippine constititution. in the 1987 philippines constitution, the whole area in owned by the philippine republic and therefore the philippines can enforce the law to these rebels. these rebels are just like playing the government and always asked for money in the government for their selfish and evil ambitions.

i think the best way to end this war is to give importance to our muslim brothers and sisters. they are tagged as terrorists. people are quite afraid of muslims.

No kidding, an all out war had been declared by the president on rebels holding ground in Mindanao province?? If that is the only option left available for him in order to save all these people from getting kill by the islamist militants that is waging an armed rebellion against the great state of Phillippine, if after all efforts carried out in the past in order to hold a peace talk with the rebels had failed, then it must be the best solution for all those villagers and Phillippine right now, there is no doubt about it. With the use of a state's military power and overwhelming force, hopefully the rebels can not harm those innocent people and villagers anymore in the future.

actually the rebels are not harming the civillians. what they are killing are the government arm forces. but in the war in mindanao. civillians are greatly affected.

did he? ALl i know that President wants an "all out justice" not all out war with the MILF's because he cares about the innocent people that could be killed if incase the war begins. the president also looks forward in having a peace talk with the MILF's to deicuss and know what is the root cause of this misunderstandings. hope that there would be no war in our country.

I agree Ceasar. That's what the president wants "all out justice " not an all out war for reason you have just stated. And i must say, i am happy that the President thinks that way. Because if it's an all out war, then many innocent lives will be caught in the crossfire. And retaliation will never end, and might affect all Filipinos in the end.

If that is the last option so be it. Mindanao deserve a one time peace. The beauty of the island need to be explored.

but the government has a big problem no because the rebels has a temporary perimeter zone where any individual could not enter without their permission and they will kill you instantly if you are going to cross the line.

I had been out of touch for sometime and I do not know yet the parameters that forced the president to make that decision. There must be something that triggered such a tough stance. I am sure that the president had weighed his options. We can only hope for the good it may bring.

Did he? I had watched the news last night and he was saying that war is not the solution. He was promoting peace talks and everything. He said that in war, more will suffer, including the innocent people. How come he changed his mind so fast?
