India drubbed England by 95 runs to wrap up the series 5-0 against England. The match was set up nicely by Captain Cool Dhoni whose fantastic half century ensured that India set England a score in excess of 270 runs when at one stage it looked like we would struggle to get 250. Chasing this total, England started very well with a century opening partnership. But once the spinners came on the English batsmen fell like nine pins. Man of the match Ravindra Jadeja picked up 4 wickets and Ashwin picked up 3 wickets to ensure that England collapsed and lost by 95 runs. The payback has truly been paid back with interest!! Cheers! ya the match was slipping away from India when India lost some quick wickets in the first session. there Dhoni produced an excellent innings and gave India a good score of 271. In second batting, England was going smoothly and thought that they are going to win this match. but just breaking the opening partner ship give the way for India to wrap up the things. After that there innings not lasted even to add 50 more runs, all wickets fall within 50 runs. India were in good mood to celebrate Diwali and now they can enjoy it with pleasure.

Yes venkit, you observed correctly. When a few wickets fell in quick succession, it felt might be India would not be able make it to the WHITE WASHING. This is Dhoni the captain who changed the color of the game. The match was truly worth the coin.

I think the over from Jadeja when the ball spun square really was the turning point. Though he conceded two boundaries of that over, it sowed the seeds of doubt in the minds of the English batsmen. After that they fell away like nine pins to Indian spinners. Cheers! Ram

All good teams are hard to beat at home so India is not an exception. Best team is one that can beat other teams at their home turf consistently. While India are lions at home they become kittens in countries like South Africa, Australia and England, especially the first two. However, that does not mean that the Indian team is weak.

Indians definitely are very strong at home. Over the last few years they have shown that they are not kittens away from home as well. The England series was an isolated blimp if you look at the recent past of India's away tours. Cheers! Ram

Now ram it is the time you seriously thought about my suggestion. The lams in England suddenly got transformed into lion as we come across such story in the "Pancha Tantra". Let alone India , even Bangladesh have defeated England in a few ODIs. The role reverse of England and India is enough to give a serious thought to what I had said. what say? $Rajiv$

I think England are just very poor against Spin. So they really suffer in the sub continent. Of course India is very good at home as well. Cheers! Ram

What a way to surrender, 129 for no loss after 20th over to 176 all out in 37 overs, All ten wickets falling in a space of 47 runs and 100 balls. The similar surrender was made when India were batting too, allowing Dhoni and Co. to reach 271 after they had been restricted to 215 for seven after 45.4 overs, a whooping 56 runs were allowed to be plundered in last 4.2 overs, 39 of which in last 2 overs. Dhoni once again spearheaded this attack scoring 75 N.O. of 69 balls. He has thus scored 212 runs in this series without getting out and scoring 330 runs since his last dismissal by England at Lords. A perfect revenge series for India spearheaded by their skipper, a perfect Diwali gift for a billion plus followers.

Yes, you can only call it a meek surrender. They had the match in control and then in a matter for 5 overs the match was over. I think they have wobbly feet when the ball spins!! Cheers! Ram

I could not believe that England was bowled out like this. When I saw last they were 120+ without loss of wickets. From that stage they have been bundled. Credit to Indian players.

At 120+ for no loss, even I was a bit worried. But I always had faith in the lack of ability in English batsmen against spin. And once the spinners came the match turned on it's head. :) Cheers! Ram
