Tired of seeing horrible news when I check my AOL email!

Hey MyLotters
I have to use AOL for my email since I've had all of my important emails going there for years. I'm afraid if I switch to a new service, I'll miss some important emails sent to my AOL account. The thing is, every time I check my AOL email, without fail, there's some horrifying news story on the front page. I don't want to see that! They always pick such negative and awful news that I don't even want to be exposed to. Every other day they show a woman who was killed, a baby who is missing, just all of these horrible stories! I'm all for staying current with the news, but seriously, I don't want to be surrounded by negative stories every time I check my email!
Is there a way to make it so that I can change my homepage to cater to my interests? I just want to know if there's a way to change the settings so that I don't have to see those horrible headlines every time I go to check my mail.

Well, if you just want to get your email you can go to mail.aol.com directly instead of aol.com -- I didn't notice any news stories when I did that. I'm not sure if there's a way to customize what stories appear on your AOL homepage...I looked around and couldn't find an easy way (or any way) to do this.
