A road in all directions.

In a blog somewhere, I read something like: "every step, either forward or backward, is a learning process". And they elaborated on saying that what ever direction you end up going... you are still moving on. I was uplifted when I read this quote. Was there a time in life that you felt you were were going back in circles or being stagnant in life only to find yourself in a brand new place? We are just where we should be. Thoughts?

Those are beautiful words. And, they speak the truth. In my life now, I feel like I'm stuck, neither moving forward nor backward. So I guess that thing for me to do is to MOVE IT!!! I'm scared of moving either way, though.

I'm there too!! Well, I think there's also stops signs in the road... and we need be stopping for a reason. I think when you are ready to go back more or go forward more or sideways or upside down, you will.

I guess so. Thanks for shedding a light on this. Maybe I need this time to think my strategy so that the next step I take is a well thought one. In my younger days, I always thought that I was a calculated person and I could plan out my life. In my 20's, I don't know what happened to my plan, but I didn't end up where I wanted to be. And, now I'm stuck. But, the time I'm going to move, I won't be as reckless as before.

Heyy, you sound like me! Hahah. I hear that in our 20's we are supposed to make all the reckless mistakes. I've also heard that we're born twice... once through our mothers and second through ourselves. I believe we are gathering all the required nutrients to prepare for our next birth. Best wishes.

Good morning, I believe that everything happens for a reason. As a Christian, I believe that God has a wonderful plan for my life. As such, the events of my life occur according to His purpose and for His glory. When I experience challenges and setbacks, my faith and trust in the Lord is a terrific encouragement to me.

That's happened to me before. When I thought I was getting nowhere, then at some point in time I looked back and realized that I'd been moving along all the time. It hadn't been perceptible because I was either moving very slowly or I didn't recognize the way I was going. I think that sometimes we are too hard on ourselves, always demanding progress that we can see or feel. Life doesn't always work that way.

That's very inspiring and encouraging. "It hadn't been perceptible because I was either moving very slowly or I didn't recognize the way I was going." -I like this.

What I love is the statement; If you do the same thing you did before the result will always be the same. This is what worry does for you, nothing. Set a course and follow it, the direction doesn't really matter, except in retrospect. Either way lessons will be learned and isn't that what we are here for?

There were times in our life when we are not sure where to go. It seems our life has no direction at all. I felt it once in my life when I am facing too much trouble and seems my life is on a waste. But,I am thankful I never gave up and soon I found light that gives me direction and right path to choose and follow.

I've heard that every choice you make, even the choice to do nothing, is still a life affecting choice. So, while I have certainly chosen at times to not act, I never thought it wasn't going to affect something. Sometimes not exactly how I expected it to be, but that's always the danger of any choice...

I have restarted my life several times. I have felt I was going back in circles. I have gotten so sick of jobs and found other things that interests me doing the same type of work for nearly thirty years. I had a life and it crumbles. I retired afew years ago and am just biding my time hoping I can do more.

many times. and many times, too, i ask the Lord why. it is not fair, i know, when it is me, who is the driver of my life. i believe that it is important to take stops, and move on, forward, when you are already set and prepared. thanks for sharing this. love it.

Good discussion! No I feel like we are where we are for one reason or another. I think God leads us to where HE wants us in life. We all have what is called spiritual decrement meaning that we all know what is right and what is wrong. I think we all have a mind and God gives us the right to chose the right road in our lives but when we don't chose the right road God gives us another path. Each and everyday we all wake up to a new challenge to do what is right by God. I think our main goal in life is to try and bring people closer to God!

Hi Lore Of course there have been many times when I have found myself going around in circles. The only thing that I do when I realize this is shut myself off and get out of the situation - maybe move out to a park or even to a movie at the theater. This does give me sometime to rethink about it and maybe I quit the situation or even try to get opinions to have it my way and get out of it. I personally feel that we all have to move on and on until we lose our brains or die. This is what life is to me. Getting stagnant in life is something that kills many things in us be it the childishness or even the innocence or even our thinking capacity or even the desire to learn and know... but whatever, personally, I would not think of stagnation for me

Yes I do believe this quote as being unemployed for as long as I have had made me feel like I am not moving even a single bit. I have and am still with high hopes so in the interim of my backward spirals I have learned and accepted a few changes in my life.
