How long does your LPG or M-Gas last at home?

m-gas - m-gas tank
Philippines

I just bought M-gas today because I ran out of it the other day when I was cooking our breakfast. I was thinking how long it last but I can't remember now, I think I lost the receipt but I am thinking it lasted for one and half month only. Now, I am not sure if the tank that I got is good and not underweight because before, our gas would last for about three months considering that my usage didn't change. I have to put a mark now on my calendar to make sure I remember the date that I bought my gas and I would know how long it would really last. If you are using LPG or M-Gas, or any brand, how long does it last in your home? How often do you use it or how often do you cook? Do you have a particular store wherein you trust them and buy the tanks?

Our LPG lasts for more than 3 months too. That's because , my MIL cooks our viands before noon, and some will be set aside for dinner, when my husband and i arrives from work. Our rice is cooked thru the rice cooker and our hot water is thru the electric pot. So, usage is at the minimum.

Hello simplyd, I do the same also, our viands would be cooked in the morning so my husband has something for lunch then I would just heat it in the evening when we are about to eat dinner. Though, rice is cooked over the stove and also the water is heated on the stove but I used to do that also and our gas would last three months. Thanks for the response and happy mylotting!

Well airkulet , at least i can easily cook in the rice cooker in the morning as i prepare for work. It will just be reheated in the evening for our dinner, because it stays warm in the rice cooker even until noon, unplugged already. Besides, it cooks fast so it wouldn't be consuming so much electricity. Same goes to the electric airpot. The moment it boils, it will already be unplugged. At least, there's no need to look after them while they are cooking. red_amethyst, Doing those things enables us to save our efforts in cooking. It's just a matter of getting used to that style. But on weekdays, we would cook our viands noon and evening, because i am home to do it.

We are using GASUL in our house and we just bought it in an authorized outlet since its safer and I assume have exact weight. The longest time that I can use my LPG is 3 months, and the shortest is 2 months...that is if I always cook and when I'm cooking foods that needs long time of cooking like beef for "nilaga"... By the way, my normal usage of LPG is just when cooking for breakfast, lunch & dinner but not that much for snack time...

hi:) for us it lasts for more than a month or sometimes two months, because we only cook morning and night, because we are all at school during lunch time, and my parents is in the office then if my mom can't cook anymore, they will only buy cook food outside for dinner.

Hello flowerfest, though I am here at home with my son, I don't use the stove during lunch as I am done with my cooking in the morning. the next time I use the gas would be at night already. So basing on your answer, up to two months consumption for the gas is good already, I think mine lasted that long so maybe I have nothing to worry about the store.

I think ours doesn't last a month we just use only those unbranded one and we use charcoal also for alternative, so that we can maximize the gas for one month.

You are using charcoal and yet your gas doesn't last for one month? Do you have a big family at home? Do you cook often at home? I think those are factors that can contribute in the usage of the gas.

I would understand if there are occasions at it would affect the usage of the gas. But for the past two months there was no occasion here at home that's why I kept on thinking why it ran out in just less than two months, I think. Thanks for the response and happy mylotting, ardoy!

The gas tank that I use at home is Mgas and it usually lasts around three months. This was when my mom was alive and we use the stove a lot. I am seldom at home and rarely cook so I expect the gas tank to last much longer. But there was a time where we got a bad tank from a dealer that we don't order from. It so happened that the store that we usually buy ran out of Mgas and we needed to get one. The tank that we got from that dealer was an old tank with a lot of rust and it only lasted for about a month. After that we never ordered from that store again.

Most of our households dun use LPG anymore. It's dangerous even though it's cheaper. The hassle of having to replace the empty tank or having a spare at home doesn't really fit in. None of my friends are using LPGs because if it runs out halfway while cooking, what's gonna happen to the food? Besides, one has to order for the LPG to be delivered right? I would rather sick to common gas stove. There wont be any gas leakage for sure, safer

Hi Red Amethyst, looking at your name, I remember izihippo... I am not just very sure about it. Anyway, reagrding the LPG usage, we used to consume ours in about 6 months but we are only using it in the mroning and in the afternoon then whole day during weekends.

Normal usage is around a month to a month a half that's because I rely on LPG on all our cooking needs. I use shellane and there's a seal, some sort of a guarantee, that the tank is full upon purchase. It's more expensive compared to Mgas but at least it's guaranteed that I get my money's worth.

I am not quite sure how long it last at home but I guess it only last for a month. Mom always cooks foods, in a day she cooks at least 4 to 5 times, and my brother would sometimes cook in the evening. Maybe that's the reason why our gas last for a month only. I was actually surprised to know that for you it can last until 3 months.

we put a mark on the calendar when we bought the tank of gas so we can monitor how long does the tank last. sometimes it last 1 month and a half sometimes more and sometimes a month only. it all depends on how much long the cooking. some viands needs long hours of boiling and some can be cooked in 30 minutes or less. make sure you lock close the tank when you are finish plus we dont use the stove for boiling water for coffee. we have a separate pot to boil water. yes we have a particular store that delivers us. we buy at the service store that only sells tanks of gas. observe your tank of gas too and complain at the store where you buy if it gives you a short time of service.

Good day to you Red_Amethyst, Before, we always monitor our gas consumption. Wherein we always put a marked when we have bought it so we can notify the dealer that the tank was underweight. But due to some cooking recipe that my sister is trying every week, a lot of new food was being cooked. For this reason, we are not monitoring it for few months now. However, before when my sister is not yet into cooking, our gas tank last for about three months.

If we are cooking on streak like every meal we cook our food, then it would last up to 3 weeks but when sometimes we eat canned or bought food then it could last a month at most. Personally I like cooking so it won't last for us especially we use the stove to make our bath warm.

Same with you, our tanks last for more than a month, I think a month and a half too. As for a particular store, I think we really need to trust because we won't get anything if we don't trust. My father knows a lot of gas stores and we have tried buying tanks from a lot of gas stores already so we know what's trust-worthy and what stores aren't.
