Few kilometers extra

India

This morning I went to attend a meeting of the senior citizens in the city, we arrange such meetings on holidays usually; today being Diwali, all schools, colleges, offices are closed; but there is too much rush in the streets, so many stalls that sell flowers, items of decoration, fireworks etc. The place of meeting was 7 kms away, but I preferred to go via the ring road along the banks of the river to avoid rush; the trip was 19 kms, 12 kms extra. Well it is always wise in my opinion to do this, may be few kilometer extra; fuel consumption was same, my driver could drive comfortably, not much gear change, brakes etc. What is your way of going to a place, will you prefer the extra kms? Please share your views and comment on this information..Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . 25/10/2011

I agree that it is a good idea to take the longer route to avoid stress. As you say fuel consumption and time will be similar so why not? Taking shortcuts in life is not always the best way to go because we may be gaining stress and missing out on a nice view! I hope your meeting went well!

Hello Papa! My vehicle has a satellite GPS and indicates to me anytime there will be road work and or traffic so that I can take a different route. Sometimes it means a few detours/longer roads but it avoids all the congestion. I cannot live without it here as I live in a big city where something always causes delays no matter where we drive off too. Happy Diwali Papa! May your family and you have a very prosperous and blessed year.

dear professor, a few kilometers added but then in the end would make the journey to the place where you are going smooth and without traffic, i would not mind. even if additional fare or gasoline expense is added. i wouldnt want to take in the polluted air from the cars stalled in the traffic so i will take the long route. have a nice day. ann

dear dada, If to avoid some road obstacles, yes why not. I have no patience when it comes to road traffic and I am so irritated. To avoid issues and delayed, I prefer to take route with extra kilometers than being stuck and have my patient gone your daughter is not patient dear pa when it comes to many things. Hugs to you and maa

Hi professor, personally if I know that the road is longer, then I would not take it. But, I don't drive, and my husband is like you. He prefers taking the longer road than being stuck in traffic. =)
