Few kilometers extra

This morning I went to attend a meeting of the senior citizens in the city, we arrange such meetings on holidays usually; today being Diwali, all schools, colleges, offices are closed; but there is too much rush in the streets, so many stalls that sell flowers, items of decoration, fireworks etc. The place of meeting was 7 kms away, but I preferred to go via the ring road along the banks of the river to avoid rush; the trip was 19 kms, 12 kms extra. Well it is always wise in my opinion to do this, may be few kilometer extra; fuel consumption was same, my driver could drive comfortably, not much gear change, brakes etc. [i][b]What is your way of going to a place, will you prefer the extra kms?
