Hi Friends,
I know we have many good writers here at mylot. Who write for different websites and blogs. I also love to write and still learning the techniques to write good. I when I started, the reason was to make some money, but after sometimes I realized that it also give some satisfaction as well. What is your case?

It is a bit of both, though most of my writing tends to be on the work side. I don't usually write for leisure because the leisure part indicates no rush or immediacy to finish the job. This is the reason why I have 3 half-finished novels and 2 not-almost started plays.
Writing as a job gives me focus and a mindset that I have to earn and I have to perform on what is expected from me. Writing for leisure, is just that, for my own enjoyment and to explore some possibilities with my imagination. It also gives me a good break from my writing jobs without being too careless or losing focus.
Finishing a writing job gives me satisfaction because I know that I have the skill and the competence to do something. In addition, my client reviews adds to that satisfaction. It makes me more motivated not just to earn but also polsih my craft.

Hi jeanneyvonne,
You have made my Day. And I have learned why I am not doing good with my writing. Tough most of my work is related with my hobby bu I end up with an unfinished work most of the time. After reading you, I hope I will be more concentrating on writing for work than just hobby. Thanks for reply.

you are right. I started to write because I wanted to share my ideas and then I learnt that I could make money as well. I started with triond and helium but triond is a waste and helium is crashing. now i am active at mylot and expertscolumn

We seem to have traveled a similar path, Sreekutty.
I, too, began writing online with Helium. I was pretty excited when I began seeing those stars and ratings. I soon came to realize, however, that neither was the revenue worthwhile, nor was I getting the exposure.
I now write exclusively for Expertscolumn and myLot. Both these sites offer both, the money and the readership.

When I first researched on how to make money online, I discovered that I could make money by writing. Writing was something I could do, I thought. Thus, I got very excited when I get a few cents here and there from writing articles.
After a while, I found that I need to get a lot of ideas to write. Thus, I changed my strategy to discuss some day-to-day issues in my article that sound interesting. It became something like writing a diary. Writing becomes emotionally healthy for me because I get to vent frustrations, discuss pros and cons of making a particular decision, etc. It became more fun, though I hate that it is more personal.

So far I haven't earned much money from the things that I have written and I still didn't finish my collection of poems or my collection of short stories. I hope to finish them one day and be able to earn some money that way, but money isn't the only reason why I write. I also write because it gives a feeling of satisfaction and because I get happy when I like the result of the things I have written. But most of all I write because I have a story in my head and I feel that I just have to write it down

My motive for attempting to write my first novel was my need to tell people about a horrible experience I was forced to endure and how it affected my whole life. I wanted people to understand what has made me who I am. I enjoy writing. But I believe a decent financial compensation within a reasonable period of time is justified. I have bills, too. However, I am not so hungry for money that I would lower my literary standards to give in to what people want.

I actually began writing because it's a passion of mine. I had never tried to get published because I have a huge inferiority complex, and there's no way I can put up with any rejection.
Then I found I could post my writings online. Here was a chance to get exposure and earn some money as well. But writing for money can be risky to your passion. You find yourself writing increasingly for the revenue. So you don't write about topics that are important to you; you write about what's important to the readers. You don't write at your highest level; you write at a mediocre level to suit the public.
This was unbearable to me. Now I write exclusively on topics of my own interest, and I write at the highest level I'm capable of.
I don't earn as much as I would otherwise. But the little that I earn proves that there are readers who appreciate my writing for the quality, and not for marketability.

Writing is such a satisfying hobby for me. Though I like to write but I don't have the talent to commercialize my writings. I enjoy writing posts in mylot because they are people reading and getting responses from people all over the world is motivating me to be more creative in writing any topics that can mesmerise my readers.

Writing has been my favorite hobby since my college years, and is still is. I very much enjoy writing articles and short stories whenever I have the spare time. That is the main purpose. Having joined a number of online writing sites, making some money has become an add-on benefit.

I write because I love writing and I want to make extra money to buy some things I want. And that's an easy way for me to get some extra cash.

I love to write because writing is the only thing I have control over. I can make up a story and run other people's lives inside the story. Yes, it gives me a satisfaction and is my fix to escape from reality. The good thing is that I can make good money out of it.

Hi informer! Like you i also feel satisfied when i write the thoughts i have in mind especially when i can relate to some of the topics here in mylot. Though i can't consider myself as a good writer still i would be glad to share my opinions and advice to others through writing. Secondly, i also want to earn even just a small amount from what i wrote since this would also be very helpful to me in some way.
Alright, have a great day and enjoy mylotting! :-)

I write for both for money and to satisfy myself. I like writing it just growns in me, I write and write and write, better yet type LOL. but if i can satisfy myself by writing and also getting an income from there why not go for it. I seen many many myLot members are really good writers and I hope someday i learn to write like them all professional LOL.
Here in myLot i write because i like using this site but other sites like wikinut and such i write for the money!:P But what helps me a lot when i write for money is writing about things that i like, and enjoy of course!

I write because of both: I feel satisfaction in my writings and I want to earn some money. When I write, I make sure that it is really unique and impressive. I really love to write. Writing is really my passion.
