I am fluent in Spanish although I was born and raised in Illinois. This allows me to communicate with all my family as most of them in my country do not speak English. I would like to learn French as my boyfriend speaks it and so does his family. I like the language and this way I can also speak to them in the language as well. I have picked up a few words but not enough to hold a conversation yet. lol

Yes he does speak to me in French and sings to me as well. lol But I have been too lazy to learn, either that or mesmerized by the words that I somehow fantasy on the moment and not the learning.

Yes I do understand quite a bit of it but to carry a conversation myself, I find it a bit difficult. I speak Spanish and by nature we speak it fast so maybe I am inpatient with the french.

I study Russian and I have chosen that language because I would like to visit Russia one day. It is one of my dreams on travel on the Transsiberian railway. I would like to travel all the way from Moscow to Vladivostok. I think that could be an interesting experience. My mother studied Russian when she was younger and she has given me some of the her old dictionaries. I use them when I practice my Russian vocabulary. I also use some of the websites that I have found and a programme that I have downloaded.

I like English which is my hobby. In fact ,It doesn't have much to do with my occupation .I had been engaged in Traditional Chinese Medicine before I was retired. It is a pleasure for me to learn English, especially on mylot. Some people think it to be hard to understand, but I derive pleasure from it.

Not everybody's study is for the purpose of utility. You have surely heard of the story in which an old man who is on the wrong side of 80 took the entrance examination for an institution of higher learning again and again.

I learned Spanish because as a child I lived in South America while my father's job had him there. We were expected to learn the language of our host country. I continued Spanish in high school and also a semester in college. But, I'd also like to learn German. There's just something about that language that draws me in, that calls to me and invites me to learn. One of these days.

I really don't care to learn any new language. I think if I were younger and able to remember I would learn french. I think it is a lovely language. I love to hear it being spoken. It sounds so pretty. I learned some spanish when I was in grade school. I remember some of it but not much.

I like to listen to the language. I doubt I could ever do it justice.

I have chosen to learn Spanish. The reason is that I work with a lot of Hispanics and I have had to be able to communicate with them. I also like to talk..lol...and they weren't understanding me and I wasn't understanding them. It's funny because me and the people I work with have developed a kind of language of our own that mixes the two. They do some English when they can't quite get the word, they'll use a Spanish one..LOL...same for me.

I want to learn a lot of languages! Right now, my priorites are Japanese, Spanish and Mandarin. Japanese (I had some lessons when I was younger, so I know the basic sentence structure, and still remember some words and phrases) because I am addicted to a particular anime. I'd like to be able to know what the dialogues really are because sometimes, translations to another language lose some meaning, or some words cannot be translated to another language.
Spanish, I'm learning on my own. It's quite easy because my own language has lots of "borrowed" words from Spanish. I think that it's the most romantic language.
Mandarin because it would help me a lot in my career. A lot of Chinese and their descendants live in my country and I would love to be able to be "in business" with them. Maybe one day, I would try learning Cantonese as well, because my father's grandfather was Chinese and he spoke Cantonese.
I would also love to learn German, French, Korean and Russian.

I want to learn Nihonggo language, I have a lot of friends in Japan, they always talking in Japanese Language. I always ask them to translate what they say in tagalog (Filipino Language)for me to understand. If i learned Nihinggo i no longer ask them to translate it i can even reply back to what ever they say in Nihonggo as well.

When I was at school a long time ago, we studied German and French, but I havn´t used them much during many years. I´m a bit more familiar with Spanish, as I have been with friends who speak that language.
I might visit a French speaking area in the future, so it could be good to brush it up a bit and learn more..
Many countries have people who have moved from other counties, and they appreciate that someone speaks their language.
My first language is Finnish and second Swedish, and I guess English must be the third.. Finding people who speak the two first would not be so difficult to find abroad, as many have emigrated... A common language is a good way to get contact with people who have moved from their home country.
Well, who knows, perhaps I will learn a little Chinese one day..at least the simplified sort..

i know a smattering of German and a tiny bit of Spanish and while i would like to learn those languages, German because i married one and Spanish would help me with work; what i have always wanted to learn, which may sound weird, is Yiddish. we have so many English words that are actually Yiddish such as glitch and chutzpah. i think it is such a cool language!

Japanese is the language i am trying to study, and it is not a choice just because i want to but it is because i need to. last year me and my group went there to work and this year we are coming back. while we are there we had learned very simple japanese words and now we are more eager to learn more. of course communicating is very important. if i can choose a language i want to learn Italian and Spanish. there is no reason why i just want to learn that language but as of now i really dont have the time. need to focus with my nihonggo.
