Its high time we all must give a re-thinking on whether it is all necessary for the sake of simple joy, especially INDIANS. Yesterday the whole India celebrated DIWALI the festival of Lights, for which I guess a minimum of 1 lac (at least 100 crore people spending an average of 1000 rupees) crore rupees wasted by way of crackers and thus making the MOTHER EARTH more hotter. In my city called Chennai, I saw the entire open area around my house was filled with THICK SMOKE thus giving an atmosphere, like a war fare. The media should take it seriously I feel and give awareness on GLOBAL WARMING. Its high time I feel the rulers ban firing crackers. People around are talking of this and that scams amounting to lacs of crores of rupees. What about this one money and a fatal mistake of WARMING THE PLANET. I really could not sleep upon thinking this one matter. What about your views friends.

Yeah you are absolutely correct my friend. making the earth's environment more hotter is worse part of Diwali.. Its better to celebrate the festival in other way like going to movies, enjoying with family or friends etc. There are many ways to enjoy the festival. I did my festival with my husband going to movie, temple etc....I think our people will soon get awareness regarding this...

Really nice to know that you celebrated it with feast for body and mind. (movie and temple). We must all come up in thinking level, and celebrate life on everyday basis. I do not find any wrong in wearing new clothes, preparing sweets, savories and sharing with others. Here too, instead of sharing only with our relatives and friends, we can share it with the servant maids, vegetable wala, flower vendor, and even we can go to the nearby orphanage or old age homes. Take our children there to make those souls happy by displaying our children's talents like music and dance.
