Office Work VS Online Work

Recently, I have been dragging myself to go to work. I just feel so tired of being tied up to a schedule and have a boss. I am thinking of resigning and just focus on making money online.
But, I am apprehensive. What if I don't get a project? What if the income is not enough? Another reason why I am afraid is because I don't really have technical skills. I can only write articles and enter data in Excel. The only technical thing that I know is html editing. (I'm not even sure if that is considered technical)
In your opinion, do you think it is a good idea to give up office/corporate world and focus online?

Lucky you reallysunny, you can make both ends meet by doing purely online work. I wish I could also learn to master this trade soon ^_^

Hi hestylim, I'm glad it is not just me who think of this thing. Though I am still undecided. More likely than not, I will not give up my real work. I'll just try to earn online every free time. :)

Hi... I don't think its a good idea to leave a good job... The online income should be necessarily treated as an extra income. It can't become your basic source of income, unless you're a highly good writer... Take care...

Thanks for the advice mr. pearl! I've been changing my job frequently for the past couple of years, and it is really hard to find something that I really want :(

Personally, nope. You should wait till you can get a steady income out of your online jobs...
Let's say you have an online writing job, make sure you have a steady income if not an income more than what you are already earning before you quit.
Unless of course, you have a sum of money you can survive on without your current job, then go ahead and quit.

Hi girl! I think we're on the same boat. I have been working for a retail company for almost 2 years now and I have been seriously wanting to quit my job and replace it with an online job so that I can have a lot of time in my hands. However, after so much thought, I realized that it might not be wise to do that especially since online jobs may not be as constant as an office job. So instead of feeling bad about having to work in an office, think of it as a blessing and consider yourself lucky that you even have the opportunity to earn in both fields. :)Smile.

First of all, you had to make sure about yourself that you were going to leave your job and work online. Are you really well prepared for working online and how much do you know about making online. You should be asking these question yourself before deciding working online.
Hope working online work for you.
Thank You

Hi sijabatnaburjut! Wow! That's a long name =)
Just like what I tell the others, I am not quite prepared after all to leave the real corporate world. Maybe when I get older, I'd focus on writing online. Hope my fingers will not get arthritis so I can still type :S

I would try to do some online work on the weekends first, just to see how hard it is to get contracts. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting that first client, and then things take off and you can quit your regular job.

Hi cutepenguin! Thank you for dropping by! I agree that it is just a matter of getting your first client. That was how I was with my first writing job at Odesk. I did not know how to move forward until one employer hire me and then contract after contract, jobs just started pouring in. I even have to decline some because of time constraints :)

You should not stop working in the office.Working online will make you earn some amount, but that amount won't be enough for a living. My suggestion is you should continue working in the office but also work online at the same time. What you will earn online will help you attain financial freedom.
There are many bad things about having a boss or having someone who is superior to you. There is more pressure when working. You have to greet them, which is hard to to when you hate them.It is sometimes hard to reach the expectation of your boss.It is tiresome to travel everyday. But although there are many bad things about working in the office,we cannot deny that the salary by working in it is a lot higher. At most times, what you earn in the internet in a month is just equivalent to what you earn in the office in just a day.
It is undeniable that earnings through online jobs are a lot smaller compared to the earnings in the real world, but I suggest you to work online as part time job so you will have to do when you got bored or money to earn in case you lose your job in the real world.
I suggest you to do both at the same time..

hi ferbjohn69! Thanks for your response. For the meantime, I am going to stick with my real job while I earn money online. I've decided to change my perspective. I'll think of my online jobs as just extra activities :)

i recommended keep working in the office, because of the job and your income is guaranteed the existance. Whereas if you work online via internet i'm afraid that you don't earn enough money for your life as your work on office.
I think you need a vacation for a while

in my own opinion. i think you should keep your work and use this online work for your extra income. You have a fixed salary with your current work right? but with this online job. there is not assurance if you can get that amount every month. I think you should keep it. :)
