Obama buying the votes of Students and Alumni

Obama is grandstanding over his Executive Order to give "relief" to students and alumni with student loans. He's hoping to gain support from these people by showing that he "cares". But studies show that the average person will only see a $4-8 reduction in our monthly payments. Is $4-8 a month enough to buy your vote?

Every politician makes promises prior to electiion. I remember all the accusations about PResident Obama 4 years ago. BTW I am voting for OBama again. . I am a student; it's not just that he's going to help students but I feel he has done a pretty good job. We haven't gone into any new wars.. Joy

Sorry, I didn't check the politics category first, but I think we both covered a different aspect of it, so it's all good.

No. Every dollar of gov't money is another link in the chains of slavery. It would be much more in the country's interest if someone in authority would set forth suggestions on how to go to college without getting into debt. We used to work our way through--it might take 6 years instead of 4 but graduates didn't start their adult lives deeply in debt. There are community colleges that cost less than half what the universities charge, there are work/study programs and other means to get an education. People don't realize they are forging their own chains of captivity. Or they don't care and just want a lifetime nanny.

I don't really see it as buying a vote, but if you want to call it that then I would say yes if I voted. Lets go the higher route, 8 dollars a month would be 96 dollars off a year. I have a lower loan so my payments aren't too outrageous, but that 96 dollars would be a payment and a half I wouldn't have to do. Any relief is good, it really is, and anything is better then the politician wanting to get rid of the loan system period. So many people have to get loans to go to college, if you take that away you screw over the country basically.

It doesn't even cover the extra interest you'll be paying.
